Hi there

I need different main menus on different pages but in the main menu position. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to achieve this.
I’m using the latest Fagus and Joomla 1.5.3. At the moment the installation is only via localhost.

Why not make copies of your template and set them up with the required menu structure, then assign the copied templates to different pages thus getting what your after.

Thanks for that. I’ve copied the template (set to a different colour to see if it’s working) and assigned it to a page. This works fine and this particular page now uses the new template. However, I can’t figure out how to assign a new top menu to this new template. In fact I don’t understand how the existing main menu is assigned to the template in the first place.
Perhaps you can give me another clue…

Hi Phil

not to worry, I found the solution. For some reasons (????) the template designers have decided not to allow the user to select a specific main menu. Fagus has the menu ‘mainmenu’ hardcoded into the php sources. So if you decide to name your main menu differently you wont get any menu!!!.

The trick is to copy the template as you suggested, rename it and make some changes (so called hacks) to the php files to point to the menu you would like (e.g. altmainmenu). Then you can link specific pages to the new template and you will also get them shown with your selected main menu.

Just get back to me if you need more infos on this.
