I tried to uninstall janews 1.1 in order to install janews 1.2. I got an error message about fail to uninstall. The janews module disappears from the installer’s modules and the site. However, I kept getting message “There is already a file called ….i/modules/mod_janews.php – Are you trying to install the same CMT twice?” when I tried to install janews 1.2. Since it is a shared host account, I do not have the ownership to Joomla’s modules files. I can’t delete janews module in modules file directory.

Can someone tell me how to install janews 1.2 or reinstall janews 1.1? I guess I can ask my host provider to give me the owership to janews module directory. Should I just delete that janews module directory? Thanks.

Firstly, have you uninstall the old one?
If Joomla! said the the file already existed, you have to manually remove it. When ever it said “There is already a file called…xxx/yyy/zzz…” go to that location and delete it if you want to re-install/install that modules/components.
