February 17, 2008 at 9:39 pm #239350Its pretty easy visit a Favicon site maker Like This One and place the favicon in your template file. Call it something like favicon2, Finally go to your Global Configurations and change the name in the Favourites Site Icon: to favicon2
Hope this helps;)

This resolution didn’t work at all for me. It wouldn’t install…Joomla 1.5 rejected it. This had me banging my head against the wall trying to figure out what you needed to do in order to display a favicon. This is what I did:
Placed the favicon in the root, joomla images and the template folders and it works. It has to do with how all the different browsers call for the favicon image. This I found on the Joomla.org website but there were so many ideas there that didn’t work it was ridiculous. I was amazed at how something so simple had become so difficult in J1.5.

No, it isn’t listed in global config in Joomla 1.5. Also there was no prior favicon in any of the areas described until I put one there. I went through every folder in Joomla and the template that contained images and it did not exist. By placing the favicon in each of the folders I listed it will then work in all browsers and I tested them all. It is really a wierd thing that will most likely be fixed in one of the next Joomla versions but it sure messed with minds of a lot of people in the forum at Joomla.org.
September 25, 2008 at 6:22 pm #272315It’s been 5 months since this last reply. Is there an easy way to do this in 1.5 now, as I cannot figure it out?
Thanks,
Doug
