Hi Guys, I stuffed up big time last week. I was trying to reinstall a quickstart as there was a problem with the previous installation of the template and we couldn’t find a way to rectify it. I have several domains all hosted on the one account with BlueHost.

I always have trouble uploading the quickstart templates and sometimes have to upload them folder by folder. I think during this process i accidentally put some files in the wrong domain folder. When I alter went to my main website http://www.vivaasiamagazine.com instead of seeing my full site I got the joomla start page. After deleting the installation folder i end up with this “Database connection error (3): Could not connect to database”

I have Akeeba back up but how do i use it as I cannot access my admin site as when i go there i also get the same message “Database connection error (3): Could not connect to database'”

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Hey There, Jim . . . .

Please tell me this isn’t the installation I helped you with last week . . . . is it? :((

How much customization had you performed prior to this error occurring?

    Hi Tom,

No it is the http://www.vivaasiamagazine.com site. This I believe happened when I was try to reinstall the quickstar on another domain :((

http://Www.vivaasiamagazine eas a fully completed site nothing else needed to be done.

If you have the Akeeba backup file you can retrieve your site using the kickstart.php package from the Akeeba site.

The backup will be in administrator>components>com_akeeba>backups and is a .jpa file. Look for the last one in the list

All instructions on using this method are on the Akeeba site.

It could be that you just killed the configuration.php file. You couls probably just put your correct MySql details in a fresh copy of that. and that should get your site running again.

    Thanks Phil,

I hope it will be a simple as that. Which folder will the confriguration.php file be in?

It is in the Joomla root folder. It contains all the connetction details amongst other things. If it is wrong you will get the error you saw. Most of your data is held in the DB so if you overwrite the files via ftp all is often not lost but you may still have some work to do depending what was overwritten.

Thanks for the input Phil. Am still worried about picking the wrong confirguration.php file.

Have sent you a PM if you get chance to give me some further input.
