Where are the settings to stop the auto play of the Hot Video on front page?

The hot video in the quickstart is a custom module with a simple iframe. It is only there as an example and you cannot stop it autoplaying. If you wish o have your own videos in that area create a module in the same position and insert them with the excellent all videos reloaded – http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/multimedia/multimedia-players/video-players-a-gallery/3955

That will give you full control over the videos you display
