It won’t!

You cannot upgrade from 1.5 to 2.5. You have to migrate the site. First to 1.6/1.7

for 1.5 -> 2.5 you need to follow this guide FIRST http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/migrating-from-j1-5-to-j1-7-to-j2-5/
