There is a new version of ores…v 1.3…how do we upgrade without disturbing our customizations?
If installed through ftp, file for file, does this retain the original “quickstart” configurations?
Explain the process please…

I upgraded the Teline II template component using the same Joomla upgrade procedure — just upload and write over the old one to replace them.

If Joomlart provides patches, the upgrade of the template would be as easy as upgrading the Joomla CMS. No need to worry about the potential risk and the grate amount of redoing stuff again, if you perform the “uninstall the old and reinstall the new” — because the latter radical procedure requires that you have to start all over again, if you have highly customize your template.

Other extensions. The upgrade of other extensions from third parties that you use are upgraded indepently from each other or from the template or the Joomla CMS. Usually, these extensions are much much simpler than the template, so the usual “uninstall the old-install the new” is the standard mode of upgrading.

Sandbox. Just to play safe, it would be prudent to try any upgrade using a miirror site of your actual webpage, to ensure that any upgrade you perform will not have fatal consequences.

Moreover, as an added fail-safe precaution be sure to make a copy of your database, as well as the files that you customized.
