I have several articles with punctiation in the titles – words like “don’t”, titles with quotations, colons, apostrophes, etc. I’e just noticed that when these are shared onto facebook it posts them with html code: don't & etc.

Is there a setting somewhere to prevent this form happening?

What version of Joomla and what editor are you using please?

JCE 2.0.21 for the editor and 2.5.3 for joomla.

The articles are all in K2 (if that helps)

Yes, that does help as I experienced this same issue myself and reported it to K2 who says it is not an issue. may i suggest you report this to Joomla.org as they have had some other reports and need to be encouraged to look into this.
