March 22, 2012 at 10:42 pm #175304I have updated my website to joomla 2.5 and installed the quickstart version of jatc_social_j25. I believe there may be something wrong because many of the links point to pages with hyperlinks only. The Kunena forum does the same as well as articles. As you can see I chose to install the joomla content however the article images are missing and of course some link does not work. I would like to install jomsocial but I would like to wait and get this issue resolved first. Please help.
Thank you.

March 22, 2012 at 10:49 pm #445196When you installed your template, did you do so via the Extension Manager or via an FTP client?

March 22, 2012 at 10:53 pm #445198The images in the quickstart are just place holder images ready for you to ad your own. This is done for 2 reasons, the first was to reduce costs. Licencing images for mass distribution is very expensive so nearly 2 years back JA removed them from the quickstart packages. Secondly, the placeholder images each detail the dimensions that the images are in the demo. This is something many of our users have found to be very helpful.
As for your links can you detail some that are not working for you so I can better understand the problem? Currently your site seems to be displaying as intended.
@tom – This is a quickstart install.

Thanks for the quick reply Tom. I installed via Filezilla ftp and unpacked it in the root directory.

March 22, 2012 at 11:29 pm #445210Could you detail which links are not working as expected for you?
As you have he quickstart installed you have an exact copy of our demo apart from a few images being replaced with placeholder images. Many of the links are just there as demo content and are not designed to go anywhere. They are there simply so the whole layout can be seen with all the module positions populated with something. Editing them and putting your own links in place is very simple. Or am I missing something?

I understand about the images. I also do agree that the place holders and dimensions are a great help. I no longer am seein the wayward links any more. Your magical fingers must have done some magic. I greatly do appreciate that. Thanks a million.

March 22, 2012 at 11:44 pm #445218Yes, I disabled the SEF which seems to be causing some 404 errors on your site. That will most likely work if you rename the htaccess.txt file in your Joomla root folder to .htacess then enable it and the “use rewrite” option in the General Settings menu.
As foe the user guides they can all be found in the stickies here – http://www.joomlart.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?10236-JA-Social-Guides-Tutorials-Tips
