Obviously, no one can read the full page, if the read more is not turned on.
Since this issue has dragged on, with so many people already having weighed in, you might want to consider another possibility so that your visitors can still read your full articles.
The alternative is tedious, but it will do the job.
Go to your Administrator
Menus => magazine (menu) => select a section (or category) => Go to Parameters (Component) => Go down to Title Linkable (Select Yes)
also just to see if it is the Correct Setting
=> Go to Parameters (Component) => Go down to Read More Link.. (select SHOW)
You have to do this for every Section and Category.
Soap Box
I resisted this option before because it is very tedious: You have to do it for all your Sections and Categories. I do not know what the genious people in Joomla were doing, but this used to be a global (one step) process in Joomla 1.0.x.There are so many good features in Joomla 1.0.x that were not kept in Joomla 1.5.x. One feature that I miss is the ability to have different introductory material (the one that appears in the Home Page) and the actual introduction you read in the full article.

March 27, 2009 at 6:58 pm #298556ukfraternite,
I may have missed it but it may help if you show a link to your actual page.
What I am very disappointed about this is that not one Joomlart support staff even bothered to comment on this. Sure they coud use the excuse… this is not our problem, this is Joomla issue. So,. you might want to post in the Joomla forum. Or, have you search there?

What is frustrating about helping people sometimes is that they do not provide enough information to help others help. I am guilty of that myself.:)
There is a change in your post above.
@ukfraternite 120801 wrote:
Read more link not appearing on categories.
is m
Does this mean the “Read more” link appears in all articles when you view any Section or for that matter, the Home Page?
Does this problem appear only in articles when you view Categories?
The above questions could by those wanting to help you if you provide a link to your website. If you do not want to show your website — create a Sandbox. So, please show an actual website where you encounter this problem.
And please show us an image capture of your Admin page, select one Category and go to parameters component (please add it as an attachment and as large as possible).
I would be interested to see how you answered the Parameters (Component) as I suggested in my previous responses
Note that, as I stated above, if you go this route, you have to do the same in all the Sections and Categories.
If all fails, still I would suggest that you do a QuickStart Install of a fresh Joomla 1.5.9-Teline II v1.6, and see if the problem that you observe can be reproduced here.I found out that Joomlart has made radical changes in the template modules in the latest Teline II v1.6, so that there are features that gets messed up when I just update Joomla and the specific files in Joomlart that I customized.

leisurepublishing,
So, all good in leisure land? 🙂
Compatibility issues is a commonn problem among extensions. I had that happen to me with SIGPRO and some features of my Teline II. It was good someone has used it before, and shared his experience.
