I am another person having problems with the favicon in joomla 1.6/1.7 with ja purity ii. In joomla 1.5 with any template, and i was using ja purity dens param, had no problem changing favicon, but after upgrading joomla (whether i was using 1.6 or 1.7) and ja purity ii as my template, no matter what i do it always gives the standard joomla favicon. However, if i switch any other template (that being one of those which come standard in the joomla install) changing the favicon works flawlessly. Since ja purity ii is (assumed) the only one of these templates to utilize the jat3 system, phill’s suggestion sounded like the winning move, but i’ve changed that image and still no glory. Perhaps after a few days this will all work out, as safari’s clear cache feature does NOT appear to work, and not sure about it in firefox. Only problem with this theory is that if i change the favicon in any other template i get immediate results. :((

It occurred to me to click the link in the administrative section “JAT3 Clean Cache” up in the menu bar where Site, Users … Log Out are, but that didn’t work (at first i thought it had but realized the favicon was only working in the admin section and not the front end)

Thank you for the link, I did find it informative, particularly the part about using firebug in firefox to determine an image location. The location turned out to be the same as the one phill luckhurst suggested, and once I deleted my cache (don’t believe the safari empty cache works), deleted the bookmark for the page, cleared history and pageviews, it is finally showing the correct favicon – at least for now. Think I also saw it mentioned somewhere that updates will replace the favicon in this location, so it might be a continual effort. Perhaps this points to a much needed and seemingly simple improvement for the jat3 system – time will tell.

At any rate, I have now had success, so anyone using ja purity ii check the location phill suggested and the link from amanda.
