You need to check database collation on your site and make sure that : database, tables, fields have collation of : utf8_general_ci

    Thanks Ninja Lead 🙂

After seting database, tables, fields from collation “Latin1_swedish_ci” to collation ” utf8_general_ci”, the issue is resolved
    Thanks

    Hello,

I have the same problem with Japanese and Chinese, i.e. languages with symbols. My website is mindfulness-academy.net

I installed JA University jatc_university_t3_j33.zip, with no sample data, to start a blank multi-language site. Even though my database collation was set to “utf8_general_ci” initially, it was changed to “Latin1_swedish_ci” after the installation.

I installed additional languages like Japanese and traditional Chinese, the Native Titles were not displayed correctly.
    The languages were installed correctly.

Content language for Japanese was installed. However, native title was not displayed properly.

Characters in articles are not displayed correctly either, for example:

    ????????????
    ????????5?????????????2?
    while it should be:
    香港大學行為健康教研中心
    香港薄扶林沙宣道5號香港賽馬會跨學科研究大樓2樓

I followed the instructions, changed the collation of database, tables, character sets to “utf_general_ci”, but the problems still exist.

I installed a blank temple of ja_university_t3.v1.1.2.zip, to a test site, mindfulness-academy.net/blank, then the languages were displayed correctly. But then I did not have access to other options of JA-Uninversity templates, like JA University Blue, Iron … How do I get these options for a blank JA University Template.

It seemed the problem was with the sample data in jatc_university_t3_j33.zip were collated in “Latin1_swedish_ci”. I wonder if JoomlArt change them to utf8_general_ci would prevent the problem from happening?

What should I do? I can provide you the login account of the site for you to take a look.
    Thanks,

If you want to work with the languages like Japanese and traditional Chinese the database, tables, fields have collation of : utf8_general_ci

I tested to download JA University quickstart here and install with no sample data and collation of database: utf8_general_ci but I could not get collation of database change to latin1_swedish_ci

You can try to do this again
