August 16, 2008 at 10:17 pm #132292Hello,
I happen to locck myself completely OUT of my ACP.
Here are the details how everything started:
1- I wanted to upgrade my 1.5.3 to the latest version available. I went to Simple Script (a tool provided by my host allowing to install Joomla and other stuff) and … on there, it said Upgrade available. I clicked on the link to upgrade and I was prompted to DISABLE all modules and plugins in order to procced to the upgrade
2- I went to my admin panel, on my joomla website and did just that. Disabled all extensions.
3- Then I went back to the Simple Script page and tried to procced. Then I was told that there is no Joomla installed. I looked arround and then remembered that I INSTALLED JOOMLA using Quickstart.
4- I went back to my admin page of my website and tried to log in again but I was not allowed anymore: Error loading Plugins:
JAuthentication::__construct: Could not load authentication libraries.
Username and password do not matchWhat should I do NOW in order to get access again?

August 17, 2008 at 12:34 am #265622best case scenario, restore your site from backup
check and see if your configuration.php file is still there, if not, restore from backup
if no back up, your site is probably gone, but…your database is not, which means that all of your content items and settings are still there
you can do a new install and just connect to the existing database, if you install using the quickstart, DO NOT install sample data or you could overwrite your existing database and then everything really will be gone.
1 user says Thank You to mj1256 for this useful post

August 18, 2008 at 10:23 pm #265917I installed Quickstart again but could not link the new installation with the existing database as it appeared empty. Holding just sample items, like the defaults. Not the items I had previously.
Thanks for all the Help. My site was in construction and now…. more in construction BUT updated with the latest Joomla.

August 19, 2008 at 1:32 am #265941sorry you lost it.
if your strating over, i suggest you do not install from the hosting companies simple script or joomla installer. Use a quickstart package
before you start customizing and adding content when you do get the quickstart installed, go to joomla extentions and get a copy of joomlapack or a simular backup program. Make frequent backups so you can always get back to the last step. Don’t rely on the hosts backup program.

Hi ukfraternite,
Don’t you have a “Forgot password” in the login?
If this option works, be sure to change the temporary password, after you login.
Cornelio
Edit: This was marked solved. Would you mind sharing the solution?
