I just upgraded and when I refreshed in front end, oops out of nowhere a drop down select list with all my back-end categories.
Go back back-end.. nothing.. not a toggle, check, anything for that.. just my good old extrafields..
So, how come that came up and how come that will go?..:((

JA-K2Filter has been updated for multi-group and multi-categories dropdown. Please check user-guide for more details.
If errors persist on your site, please submit a ticket with your site and ftp account. I will fix it you.

Is there a way turn off the K2 categories dropdown from the front-end?

yeah i have the same issue. i dont want that categories dropdown in the front… the re should be an option in parameters.
