Hi.
I have a serious and acute problem with my Joomlart-based website at http://www.foraldrakraft.se. It uses Teline but the problem does not have to do with just that template. Background: Suddenly, the site became unavailable. Only a blank page is shown.
I have no idea what the reason can be. I have not changed any settings or even published any new articles at that moment when the site’s content disappeared.
I did do backup which made our disk space bedome scarce. I have since deleted files and release more disk space. Could that cause the problem?
In my search for the problem I have unpublished every singe Module in the Module Manager. Still, I only get a blank page.
Now I am not sure what to do.Perhaps someone can help me in identifying the problem.
Do you have e plan or a check list for problem searching?
What to do first, second, and after that, when problems like these arise?Anybody has a clue to what the problem could be with my site?
/Valter

May 17, 2009 at 9:25 pm #304896Have you tried switching to another template to check if it really is the template causing the issue?

May 17, 2009 at 9:51 pm #304897When I change to other template (madeyourweb or rhuk_solarflare_ii) it is possible to show a message on the site (for instance; “We are updating our site, please come back soon”). Does that mean that the problem is connected to the Teline-template?
Should I try to recreate the site with another template?
(I have been planning to upgrading to Teline II for some time but haven’t had the time to do it)If I want to find and correct the problem with Teline – what should be the next step?

May 17, 2009 at 9:54 pm #304901If this is a new install, then I would HIGHLY suggest re-installing using a Quick Start package.

May 17, 2009 at 9:55 pm #304902i think you addressed the issue in your first post
when doing the install you ran out of diskspace, so the install failed, you need to completely remove every trace of the template install, increase the diskspace and try again.
if more than this was corrupted due to lack of space, you may have to do a complete site do over1 user says Thank You to mj1256 for this useful post
May 17, 2009 at 10:03 pm #304903It was not a new install, the site has been running on Teline for 2 years.
The reason I went out of disk space was that I made a manual backup copy of the site, without first checking if enough space was available.
Could this have caused the problem, even though it was no installation? Is your recommendation that I redo the site from scratch with a new template install?
Of course, then I would like to go for Joomla 1.5 and transfer all content from Joomla 1 to 1.5, but I guess that is not impossble to do. But it will probably take som time to get it done…
Is that what I should do…?
I so, I had better start doing it soon

May 17, 2009 at 11:15 pm #304910oh, just do a restore that to the point before you uploaded the tempalte and then you should be fine as long as you oncreased the disk space
And i did the same thing just this weekend, put too many backups on a few sites and used up my diskspace. argh!
as for the update from 1.0.15 to 1.5.x, I would not do it yourself, you have a better chance of keeping the integrety of the site and not losing content of you had a pro do it. Better spend a few buck that lose everything, but i am also at a point where i need ot upgrade my 1.0.15’s to 1.5.x

May 18, 2009 at 2:19 am #304935the upgrade is difficult and not so easy for a 2 year old site that you probably customized. Unless you have “MAD” skills, i would not try it.
1) do you have a backup taken before this happened
2) restore your site with that backup
3) do you have a SEF extension installed, thay can cause this
4) are you using .htaccess
5) what is you home or main menu item linked to1 user says Thank You to mj1256 for this useful post
May 18, 2009 at 5:10 am #304946Thanks a lot for all good advice! I will try to solve it by reinstalling the latest backup. Then let a pro convert the site to Joomla 1.5…

May 18, 2009 at 7:09 am #304954Hi Valter
Good luck with the recovery … I hope all goes well.
Once your site is back to normal you may wish to install Joomla 1.5.10 and the latest version of Telline II into a subdomain where you can test things without affecting the live site.
Best Wishes
