I am newbee in joomla but fallin love with teline templates.
All my posting always go to headline.
How to post an article to a category under headline block?
How to create new category under headline block (like ASIA-PACIFIC, WOLRD etc)?

If you don’t want an article to go to the headline just unpublish it from the Frontpage.

On a related note, is there any way to post component output under those sections?

For instance, I have an eventslist module that produces a string of links to events. Is there any way I could have an Upcoming Events section and let the eventslist module populate the content? Or does it have to be static content?

The JA-News module doesn’t really play nice with something like that. I would create a new module and place the code for the feed in there.
