November 27, 2009 at 2:17 am #146390In the joomlart site we can see a model of the ja purity 2, at http://templates.joomlart.com/ja_purity_ii/
I want my site to be like that. But when I install the ja purity 2 template, there are some differences. For example, bellow the mega menu, how can I add the images with the text? (the images together what is joomla, what is module etc). Also, how can I change the color of that grey bar?
How can I include the BORDER to the modules (newsflash, main menu, resources, poll etc)?
How can I change te position of the Breadcrumbs (to the top)? ( I tried all possibilities from the admin, but it did not change position).

November 27, 2009 at 10:28 am #325122Thanks John!
I have the quick start installed, but it also have some differences from the ja purity model in joomlart site.
How can I put the rounded borders to the modules? How to change the colors of the fonts in the modules (in the model the title fonts are green)?
The modules in the model have a small arrow that makes possible to expand or contract the modules. How can I put that arrows? To the right side, what module is that with the title “Joomla Tutorial”? I need to make some modifications in that. The same question for the two modules bellow that.
The big gray bar bellow the mega menu, how can I change it? How can I change the texts and the pictures in that bar?
I did watch the 2 video tutorials about the mega menu, and that is OK, with the videos I could easily learn how to use it.
But there are no more tutorials, I suggest Joomlart to make more video tutorials. Also I suggest to improve the quality of the sound in the videos.
I want to buy some professional templates from Joomlart. The JA Purity is just the beginning.
Joomlart do a great job, but I feel lack of tutorials about using a template like JA Purity. I think a tutorial is the best way to a fast learning. It is dificult having to search everything in the forums.korb Friendkorb

November 27, 2009 at 9:27 pm #325163Hi,
You say you have installed JA Purity II quickstart? OOOK. I will try my best to reply to most of your questions.Navigate your frontend menu,
Explore:
– you will see there you have some items like this: default, left-main-right.squared, and so on. By these names you can understand the layout format and the rounded or squared like module styles.
– Click them and see what happends!Changing menu title and slogan, should be done in Menu Configuration, like any other menu in Joomla.
Customizing colors, fonts, and generaly all styles in the template should be done using firebug, inspect element, and it will tell you the file to modify and also all the lines+files that appy to that styling you want to customize.
Good day,

November 27, 2009 at 10:40 pm #325165thanks Korb, but I need specific answers for my questions.
How can I put the rounded borders to the modules? (if the answer is editing the css, tell me wich file and what changes).
How to change the big gray bar bellow the mega menu? How to include some images there, like the model in joomlart site?
How to move the breadcrumbs to the top of the page?
What module is that to the right of the page (the blue)?

November 27, 2009 at 11:37 pm #325167Hello,
Seems you missed Jooma templates classes, I mean the manual on how to build classic templates for Joomla. This my friend is an advanced template framework, you cannot really step forward so much over night. Take it easy, take a coffee and take yourself some time to read a little about templates, about css, how templates work, at least the basics.
I have taken my 2-3 days to fully understand this new template framework, but I have more than one year of experience modifying the old Purity template.
So please, don’t ask anybody here to explain what is a module class suffix, what css file for what module, nobody can make you understand better than yourself.
Have a good start and a good day,

November 28, 2009 at 12:11 am #325169You are right, Korb. I got the same conclusion, and even before I read your reply, I was studing some books.
I will do it, not only 3 days and not only the basics, but I need to start the site, that is why I am asking the questions.
I think many other users may have the same questions, since the model in joomlart site is differente from what we see after installing ja purity 2.
I will take the coffee!

November 28, 2009 at 12:19 am #325170I’ve seen websites using the original JA Purity template with only one customization: the logo, and looks excellent. Just look at this demo site here and tell me if I am not right: http://demo.joomlart.com/extensions15/index.php?option=com_janews&view=janews&Itemid=61 The old Joomla logo is really bad, I think JA should use a coustom logo for JA Purity II from now on, it is much better than Joomla logo.
This way is even easier to update to latest code.If you make changes, then it would be a huge compromise on finding code changes. php and javascript ofcourse are the most important update, CSS, and other files are almost unimportant in terms of updates.
I think you better concentrate on the content and SEO, and leave the JA Purity II as it is for a while, it does not look bad after all.
Have a nice day,

November 28, 2009 at 3:33 am #325173Hi gato_de_botas. I’m going to try to help you but I’m not sure if I’m going to nail it down.
Most of the templates that Joomlart provides come with different layouts. If you go to the sample template http://templates.joomlart.com/ja_purity_ii in the Explore menu you can choose different layouts. Some will provide rounded corners for the modules. You just need to go to Template Manager and select the layout you are interested.
I’m not familiar with Purity II, but if you want to change the Mega menu, I bet it is working as a module. Just go to the module and see what can you change there. If you cannot change much there, then probably your best option is to change the images in the image folder. There are two main images folders. One located at the root of the site and another under the template you are using. Check the images and play with them.
To move the breadcrumbs to the top of the page you have to go to the breadcrumbs module and change the location of the module. To see the different locations available to position the module, go to the template and hit preview. This will give you the different module positions in the template.
You will need to find out yourself which module is the blue one. It is most probably named Joomla Tutorial, but it may have other name.
I hope this information will be helpful.
Tomas

November 28, 2009 at 11:27 am #325187thanks danny, thanks Tomas.
I have no intention of changing the visual of ja purity 2 at the moment. Danny is right when he says the better is to concentrate in content now. This is a good advice for many people in the same situation I am now.
I like the visual of JA Purity 2, in the way it is, and that is why I would like my site being like the model in joomlart site.
What I didn’t figure out yet is what module is that bellow the mega menu, the big grey bar. The mega menu I can handle it easily, after watching the video tutorial in this forum. But how to change the content of the grey bar, how to include the images? I am talking about the big bar, I think the bar in the USER positions.
Something I could not find in Joomla 1.5 is the funcion PREVIEW INLINE POSITIONS, that I watched in a tutorial about the version 1.0. That function shows a MAP of the positions in Joomla, making it easy to identificate any module. Where is that function in joomla 1.5?

November 28, 2009 at 12:26 pm #325189Hi my friend,
All JA Purity II layouts use different block configuration. For instance default uses left.php block and right.php.
By default, left.php is squared, and left.php is rounded. The other layout variations use left-rounded.php as the rounded style block and right-xhtml.php as the squared style block. To view the block/module positions of any layout you can easily see it with this line
http://www.yoursite.com/index.php?tp=1
or if you are on localhost
http://localhost/your_root/index.php?tp=1
This should bring some light on how T3 framework manages the block/module positions and default styles.
Meanwhile keep up writing your rich and unique content! 🙂
Danny

To see the module positions in Joomla 1.5 do this:
1.- Go to Template Manager
2.- Select the template you are using and click Edit.
3.- Click on Preview (next to Edit HTML button)You should be able to see the different modules positions.
