March 27, 2009 at 10:00 am #139637HI,
since IE8 is coming soon to full release i tested it with few joomlart templates and they have problems with his new render mode/compatibility view, i found few articles on the web about new IE and also found that he has option when you insert meta tag in head of your template it shows temp in IE7 compatibility view and then it’s looking ok.
now i found this code<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=7;FF=3;OtherUA=4" /> for XHTML
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=7;FF=3;OtherUA=4"> for HTMLbut i still dont know is that correct code to be inserted in template to get automatic render in IE7 mode, if someone has a solution it would be nice to share with other members, it will soon be a problem when they release final version of IE8, so this also goes to template creators to keep in mind what will come soon.
Thnx to all for for help in advance.1 user says Thank You to thehacker for this useful post

just add <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=EmulateIE7″/> in your template before the head-tag and all will be fine…. this is the only solution if compatibility view is not installed on IE 8 (because this is an option you can choose upon install, and not everybody has the compatibility-view installed)
it’s not a real solution, just something temporary until the code for the template is completely rewritten to work with IE 8, but this temporary solution works for all JA-templates

March 27, 2009 at 11:19 am #298444thnx for the answer, i think that solution will do the trick.
i never liked IE like 99% people i know but ordinary users dont look further then IE so it has to be done.
but anyways developers should keep this in mind.avnorthmedia Friendavnorthmedia

June 2, 2011 at 8:43 pm #394384Thank you Phill. So now I’m back to “I have no clue” why our banner will display in everything except IE8 on an XP machine.

June 2, 2011 at 10:40 pm #394393Can you post screenshots of what it is looking like and what it should look like in IE8 for you?
Great work on your site by the way.

June 3, 2011 at 2:21 am #394411Thank you for your very kind words Phill.
Here are the screen shots. The strange thing is: it works like it should in win7. but not in XP. This has been confirmed on 4 different computers. I’m lost on this one.

June 9, 2011 at 4:51 pm #395559Solved!!
When I changed : plugins/system/jat3/base-themes/default/css/template.css to display my “logo.png” I wasn’t sure how to fix the image path to templates/ja_business/images……so I just uploaded another copy to plugins/system/jat3/base-themes/default/images
done like dinner.

June 9, 2011 at 5:07 pm #395560Hmm, glad it worked but you will loose those changes if you update the plugin. Better to do the same, change the logo but do it in the templates directory instead of the plugin one.
