April 30, 2011 at 8:54 am #389129Please go into the Joomla admin panel and check all the folders are writable. Joomla 1.6 has a nice page for this that can be afound in the site>system Information menu. Dlick on the directory permission page and see if they are all green
If they are notyou will need to set the correct permissions for the folder that are not.

April 30, 2011 at 10:42 am #389142Thanks Phil,
Unfortunately they are all unwritable. How do i go about changing these?
Configuration is the only one that is right.

April 30, 2011 at 4:42 pm #389163That all depends on your server setup. Usually you can use your ftp app but you should seek advice from your host on what settings will work best for your servers setup. I have written a little guide to file permissions but it still needs some work. I shall try and get it finished this week for future reference.

I dont have a host as yet, im just in the design stage of the site so I must admit i havent got that far.
I have XAMPP/local host on my machine and thats how I view and change my Joomla site. is there something in XAMPP that I can change to make the directory permissions writable or do i type a command in terminal?
Pls see attached pics of errors on site
thx

May 1, 2011 at 2:09 pm #389281Nope, nothing in Xampp, it is simply a windows permissions problem. Google how to change file permissions in whatever version of windows you are using as each are slightly different. Probably a simply right click on the root folder and untick the read only button.

May 1, 2011 at 3:54 pm #389301Look in templates>ja_ores>css>template.css for the following lines around line 1216 and adjust the figures in red below.
h1.logo a {
background: url("../images/logo.png") no-repeat scroll left center transparent;
display: block;
height: 43px;
width: 128px;}

May 2, 2011 at 7:31 am #389377Thanks Phil,
As you can see by the attached I changed the height and width as mentioned and it worked well. Unfortunately my business partner saved my logo as a png and also inserted the incorrect one.
I have since saved the correct logo (horizontal version) as a gif. and saved it in the images folder and deleted the old one from the images folder.
should i be doing this somewhere else because I cant seem to remove the old one with the new logo.
Thx
