February 7, 2010 at 11:46 am #148475Right, its on time to let my feelings about this enterprise product out.
I have bought your product since it was released the first time. Now imagine how long this is back in the past. Since this time im not able to use the “enterprise product” as it has bugs and bugs and bugs. Sure with every release we are getting better, but cmon, this product does not cost just 50$ so for me as customer, i could expect that this is working out of the box!
But the errors and missing features or improvements are not happening. I thought after one year it should be possible to release at least one stable version which you can use productive and working without any compromises.
I need to write again my suggestions and again. I was active in this section a few months ago and a few members were with me and the ideas. Sadly nothing really changed.
I just want to use a stable and working product for that i paid like an enterprise product.The main thing you should watch is, to take a look how other job portals are working. take the major ones. You will see a big different. But to make your product as good as them or to give us as customers the chance to make a small competition, you should take a look at them.
Now im going to post my list and ideas again. And hope there are getting fixed soon otherwise i need to take a look to other products and sell my licence to get the money back. Im really sorry for writing this big and long complaint letter at here. But there is still no chance to get recognized.
1. Updates
Find a more comfortable way to update your product. Im using many scripts which you can update from the backend. Why not yours? If someone makes changes to templates or whatever, use overrides. Im using a brilliant script for reviews, i just click update in the backend and i got the newest version without configuring everything again or reinstalling.2. Now to my current system (using 1.4.1)
I have a actual joomla installation so now quickstart package. All im doing is installing your extensions. Nothing more, nothing less. Even when i update to a new version, i uninstall everything from ja and remove all database fields from ja. So, if i install the extensions again, its all fresh.
Maybe there are some errors which are related to my server (hostgator) but i didnt had those errors with the last versions.3. Global settings- Payment settings
I cant update any payment module, it gives me this error:
1 - An error has occurred.
An Error Occurred During Update.
The question is, why?4- Employer signup or Job seeker
After you fill out all fields and hit submit im getting this error:
* Could not instantiate mail function.
Message
Successfully updated your profile details!
Please Wait For Admin Approval Before You Can Perform Other Activities As A Employer
I havent had this “Could not instatiate mail function” any time before. Mail is still sent.5. Job publish and posting date
This is error which i try to explain since the first version! Lets take the role, im using the job portal in australia and an employer from the states wants to post. He is submitting this job post but cant see it online as the timezones are different. You cant say that he should set his timezone different. He doesnot care about. He only wants to post his job and want to see it immediatly.
Suggested this many times. All other products which im using are able to make postings right on the fly if i choose the date from the calendar. I dont know where the problem is. Maybe remove the calendar, so jobs are always posted at the time the employer submits a posting.6. HTML and Email
If im switching off html emails in backend, im receiving emails with the html tags…7. Two approved fields
Again, im using a fresh install of your extensions but getting “two approved” field in backend for jobseekers and/or applications. I did not create any other field as your suggest last time.8. Guest access
Guests and others are able to view resume, even when i switched it off from admin backend.9. Jobseeker application, cover letter.
Its nice to have a text field there. But its useless as the mail which is sent shows the text all in a row. Even when html mails are switched on. Nothing works with this field, also not bold italic or whatever.10. Delete applications
Employers are not able to delete an application to their posting.
As employer i want to delete applications in which im not interested to have a better overview about the remaining.11. Delete job posting
An employer is not able to delete his own job post. If he is creating it, he should be able to delte it when he got someone who fits in his job offer. Just imagine, hes posting the job for 30 days, after 10 days he found the right person for the job. Now hes still getting spammed with mails for another 20 days as he cant delete the posting.12. Wirebank and paypal
I tried wirebank and paypal and received 3 mails to the admin account. 1 from the user who did the payment and 2 from “guests” all at the same time…13. Employer, company
Its still the same long story again and again. the Job poste is not the employer, its the company. Having the user at the joblist is wrong. As the jobposter is just posting this job so the employer is the company. Take a look to monster or other portals. You will never see that the person who is writing the jobpost (in your case employer) will be listed at the job list, no they show the company as employer cause thats right. Please try to rethink in that case. Employer is always the company and not the jobposter.14. Employer job posting – Distance
I still try to figure out what the heck Distance means. Seriously, an employer is not interested to use distance… I guess its only good for the jobseeker when hes doing the radius search. But every employer would ask: What is distance in my job posting. No one knows what to do there. Simply, employer dont care about this. They make the posting and dont say “im only looking for guys in a 5km radius or whatever”. Please drop it from there, it useless and confusing.15. Application mail to employers
You are currently sending a file within this email to track if the user has read this mail or not. Thats far against the privacy rule on any job portal website. I dont want that anyone knows when anyone is reading their mail. If you think its ok, give us a option to deny it. I dont want to have this.16. Send me mail when application is saved

What does this mean?I hope you can understand that im not happy at the moment. I know you are making a good job with your templates. But its about an enterprise product here and we should handle it like this.
I hope im not the only one who sees this in that way. Also it can not all depend on my server or whatever. Didnt had any problems with other tools before.
Please, try to understand my position as your customer. Its my goal to keep my customers satisfy, so you should do the same.
Again, im not using this component since yesterday, i was one of the first who started with your first release and not everything has been changed in that long time.Nick

I have read your post with a particular attention.
I discovered JB a few week ago by searching the best solution for a client.
My first opinion was that I had found “The best component ever maid for Joomla”.
So I have worked every days and every nights for understand, translate and configure JB for my needs.By trying an “Enterprise extension” for 30 days, I had like you understanded that I worked on a stable extension. By looking at all the posts in the JB forum, I have seen that some importants bugs remained for for a serious marketing. Like you for each of my job I defend my reputation, and therefore the future of my business. I can’t sell a website which contains so many bugs. I prefer not to sell a website rather than to sell and have an unhappy customer.
I was waiting for the last update of JB thinking that all bugs were fixed,
and plained to buy it to begin my business (I have already bought many domains and my intention was to buy many licenses of JB with a synchronization system) . But for me it’s impossible to buy this extension yet, and I fear I have wasted my time and my money (time is money), because so many bugs are waiting for a solution. Time is money : in my country one day of work for a developer (8 hours) cost 400$ and I work each days on JB 20 hours (you can see the time of my posts nights and days).Like you I don’t understand why we should pay 400$ for an extension which don’t work perfectly.
For me it’s not a question of money (400$ is nothing for a stable extension), I prefer to pay 1000$ and be sure that the extension is stable and know that a team works day and night (like me) to resolve quickly and definitively all problems. I don’t understand why I should pay during trial period for update JB because we contribute to the success of JB, by searching, looking, trying, making posts, …Why active “Job Boarders” (developers members) don’t get special price by helping Joomlart Team to achieve a stable status of JB ???
I do not usually complain, and I sincerely hope to make a durable and long time work with Joomlart.
But we need a quick and total involvement to resolve all the bugs right now.I have checked the differents points writed above by algmed and I agree with his complaints :
For the update of JB, the process is complicated, and we need a simply way (I plain to buy in the futur a hundred of licenses …).
For the guest access, why this big error is not solved ???????????????????????????????
What is the interest of a such extension if everyone can see all resumes ???????????????????
Why sould a client pay for the service if others could use it for free ??????????????????….
I’ll not developp each point, but for me this mean that JB need a complete check point by point for each step by a complete team (and not one person which have to manage others forums to). We need a complete team to solve right now all our problems because we need to sell now this extension to our clients in order to stop waste money and time and begin to earn money !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For me I stop to work on JB right now until I get a commercial proposition, a real answer for bugs and time for a stable version that I can give with certainty to my clients.
I hope that you’ll understand my opinion and that it is for an common interest.

The changelog is also given as sticky in this thread http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/ja-jobboard-v-1-4-1-released-important-bug-fix-improvement-release/I hope some of the above queries are taken care in this release. Please confirm. Getting all the queries for JB settled is a priority and would like full support from you on this.
All the points raised by you both are being looked into on priority basis.

You say that 1.4.1 has fixed most of bugs.
Why I don’t have the possibility to check what you say while I have more 9 trials days.
I have again the message “Could not access, not have the permission”,
even if I try to download by the member area ???
I spent 400 hours, night and days on JB, why I can’t make an upgrade,
before to take a final decision !
I need to give an answer this week, so I need to take a decision now,
by saying to my client “Ok I can do it” or “No it’s not possible yet”.

February 8, 2010 at 12:54 pm #332042400 hours really..listen ..yes its not perfect..but for the price it is a great fit. Ive use this now on 8 domains. My team and I have configured the code to fit our needs. Some of your errors can be fixed just by configurations. Look at some of teh Job boards out there..I have not seen any other Job board that gives you the same bang for your buck. Just wondering how much PHP and or Joomla exp does everyone have.

20 days, 20 hours by day, I work like that (and no week-ends).
Like I said above may be I have been to much offensive again Joomlart (and I apologize),
and I agree with you with the fact that 400$ is nothing for a such exstension,
and JB is with certainty the most advanced Job Board extension for Joomla.What I wanted to say is that I’d rather like to pay 1000$,
and be certain that there is no bugs,
because if I pay 400$ and I spent 10 days or more (before selling) by searching and solving bugs,
for me it really cost 400 + 400×10 = 4400 $.So my misunderstanding is why Joomlart doesn’t invest a full month for search and solve all bugs.
With a stable extension : we earn time and money – Joomlart could sell this extension more expensive.That’s my idea, I hope you’ll understand.

Hello rkdn53,
As response message, you must buy ‘Publish resume’ package to able publish your resume on jobboard (job seeker menu >> Resumes >> Buy Publish resume) or you can disable this feature on admin (configuration page >> billing tab >> Publish Resume – Payable Or Not? option >> select No).
