    Hi There,

I am trying to edit the template so the JA News in ja-tab show the news in the front page so that instead of the image of the top story appears, the image associated with that certain category shows up…

Can anyone point me to the right direction where I may be able to change that?

    Thanks

You can open modules/mod_janews.php to modify ja news. But remember to create a backup first.

Thanks for the quick reply. I found the function processImage but not too sure how i would go to have it look for the image under the category folder instead of the stories one.

    Any further help is appreciated.

bumping – JA support not one of the 5 queries I’ve posted have received a solution, and its getting really irritating.

I would even settle for an if statement that links the catagory id to a static image hardcoded into the blogitem.php if someone could tell me how to do it, but i need a response please.

I am curious why you want to do this. Did you plan on retaining the “auto-slide” front page component of the JA News?

    One possibility

You can just clone one of the standard modules, and replace the contents of the module with

    Code:
    <a href=”(link url here)”><img src=”img url here” widht=”” height=”” alt=””></a>via the html edit option.

the link url could be => http://mysite.com/aboutus.html

    “img url” could be =>http://mysite.com/feature-img.jpg

    for example.

Place the module just above the JA News.

Thank you for trying to assist, but that wont work as I want a different image for each catagory and I have 6 catagories in 2 columns.

I figure if there was an if statement in the bloglist.php file that said
If catagory id = X then
show image X (direct url link)
    else if Y then
    show image Y

I can get a single image to repeat 6 times currently, but do not have the skills to work out how to make it check the catagory id. This is why I joined a template club rather than just downloading a free template, in the mistaken belief that some level of support was part and parcel of my membership fee.

I need the same thing, that the module news ja take the image of the category rather than the latest news.
I try to make some changes, but none worked. :((
honestly I do not have much knowledge about joomla
