1st Problem:
The first image that shows up on my front page gallery seems to be cropped (it’s smaller than it’s actual size). The images that follow are then regular sized. How does one fix this?

2nd Problem:
After removing the thumbnails and the image arrows, how does one fill the bottom space with the image. Do I resize? Do I change the CSS? What are the proper dimensions?

The closest answer I found was:

…but is doesn’t explain how to remove the bottom darker shaded area where the thumbnails used to be

…and it also doesn’t mention anything about why the first image that comes up is smaller than the others.
