I’m interested in buying JA Comments, but since there’s no trial version or something like that, I’ve contacted one of my colleagues, who own a copy of JAC. See, I have a working Disqus comments on my current site and would love to import existing comments. I tried to do that on my colleague’s test server, but it didn’t work. No matter what I did, always got this error:
“Please select xml file of disqus comments”
So I’m pretty much confused right now and having doubts about buying. Could you explain me this? How come this feature doesn’t work?
January 3, 2012 at 2:06 am #432229That’s something I proposed here: http://forum.joomlaworks.gr/disqus-comment-system-%28plugin%29/exporting-comments-to-disqus/
And I’m proud to say I finally made it work. I managed to create a script which exports all JomComments into an XML file which is suitable for uploading to Disqus.

January 3, 2012 at 5:38 pm #432329Oh, and I also want you to inform, that your comment templates look like mess in other site templates. I used for my test a standard Yootheme Cloud, which doesn’t influence JA Comment at all and see how it looks:
This is due to bad styling and HTML layout. I know it because I’m pretty good in styling and HTML. Yes, I can make it look perfect in any site template, but in this case it’ll requite plenty of time. So still not buying until we sort this out.

January 9, 2012 at 8:40 am #433088Hello monkeyman,
For the problem “Can’t import Disqus comment”, this is an issue of JA Comment when Disqus changed its export file structure. I raised it on our bug tracking system and it’ll be fixed in next version of JA Comment. You can follow its progress at http://pm.joomlart.com/browse/JAECCOMCOMMENTJVI-210
For the problem about the styling of JA Comment on Yootheme, could you post a ticket along with your site information (your site URL, your site admin account) and your FTP account? So I can diagnose this problem.
Best regards.
