April 15, 2009 at 9:55 am #140264My dev membership that I bought under the half price offer seems to show that it will only last until June… despite being purchased in March….
That can’t be right? Thought I’d raise it here in case any of you guys have the same issue and not realised it… I recommend you all check your own license renewal dates if you have bought the Magento Developer License.
It’s pretty disconcerting.

Hi spmedia,
Just to clarify. A Joomlart JATC Developer Member has to pay $500 per year. This designation must be differentiated from and is different entirely from a Magento Developer member.
To get the half price discount, you must first be a Developer member (i.e., paid the aforementioned separate dues). There was never an indication in your name that you were ever a JATC Developer Member. If have paid your dues, as a JATC Developer Member prior to becoming a Magento licensed member, you must first settle this with Joomlart.
As noted by hanifahmed:

The Magento license and duration of membership are detailed here:
https://www.joomlart.com/member/member.php
then click Magento.
Indeed, it is very costly — especially because there are only a few templates to choose from. That is the reason why I would not want to touch the Magento templates right now.. This was more so because for the price charged per template, as I noted in other posts, the templates are not ready.

It should expire March 2010 if its states on the page where you bought it that the licence is for a year.
Sadly if you have simply read it wrong there is not a lot you can do…..where was/is the link?Looking at the Magneto Page here it does state 3 months as the length of contract.

April 17, 2009 at 11:57 pm #301730In regards to my subscriptions, and user title there seems to be some wierd bug with Joomlart – see my other post in this forum. I have paid for a developer license which is fully active and a magento developer license.
$350 USD for three months is atrocious when there is absolutely nothing to choose from apart from Ja Tube and Purity and the other blue one, none of which are really usable. As it stands, I’m obviously better off not buying subscriptions for any Joomlart Magento products until there are enough there for me to go on a spree and download a few hundred and get my monies worth? Surely there is no sense here.
I love JA but I this is something that I will no longer be renewing and I guess I’ll have to take it on the chin and sink the loss incurred by having a three month license where I’ll probably get 2/3 templates, where I may be able to hack apart one.
And Hanif / mfcphil, I got the license pretty much on the day that they announced it and opened it up. It wasn’t made clear on Hung’s initial post that it was for three months. If I saw that I wouldn’t have acquired the JM Dev License knowing that it would not be wortwhile. I have no idea what the license period may have been then, as I just noticed it a few moments before making my initial post here that it seemed to end prematurely.
$350 is a lot to pay. I was happy to pay the joomla developer fee, as there is an arsenal of templates available. $350 for three? That’s just not right. Not even $175 with the half price offer. It’s disheartening and most dissatisfying.
Sorry guys, I never thought I’d say this, but a big thumbs down from me. 🙁

April 18, 2009 at 12:23 am #301732Spmedia as it was an honest mistake on your part and you haven’t registered the templates to any domains, I think you should ask (and get) your money back or at the very least be allowed transfer it to JATC Dev license.

spmedia,
You will be more crushed after reading the post of Tom (based from Scotty’s info) about the move of Magento — a Pro Magento, for US$9,800.
I can buy a MacPro, an iPod Touch, an iMac and a large screen and still a lot of cash to spare, if it was really US$9,800.
But, I agree with Scotty. JA Templates are still a bargain — even if I am just using one right now. I actually like some of the templates they created since last year.
I just hope they create the next generation of Teline II soon. It is so far the best news-magazine template, but it still has a lot of ways to go to compare with the features of “news-magazine” CMS-template used by commercial newspapers and magazines.
It has been a year since Teline II was created. In the meantime, I am looking around, but so far, several companies claim that they have a “news-magazine” templates (and very costly at that but they were misreprenting their products — not a news-magazine template at all.

April 18, 2009 at 11:11 am #301779I agree their templates are great, it’s a good starter to get one and hack it apart. But I like to know I have spent my money well. And I feel I have with the Joomla Dev license. It’s great.
Unfortunately, 3 months for a Magento license at $350 USD is not.
