    Hi luke2125,
    Yes, you still can use your downloaded template on the other domain (out of the 2). However, you will not be able to access the new templates released in 2008.By the way, all the templates has been updated since the release of the Joomla 1.5.x

    Thanks Hung for the reply and God Bless, on one more thing, do you have a paid service to take out the copyright?

    Hi Luke,

    I will hazard to guess, because I hope Hung will clarify my interpretation also.

    There is no copyright per se. However, there is at the Footer the “line” .– Designed by JoomlArt.com — that you can remove for the two domains you are allowed. Make sure that they are registered. Since you are no longer a licensed member, you may have to ask Hung to make sure your domains are registered.

    If you use the templates that you downloaded for non-profit group domains, they are not covered by the limit of two that you are allowed. However, you have to register them also. Moreovers, for this non-profit use, you are not allowed to remove the Designed by JoomlArt.com .

    Now, further clarifications about domain license:

    let us say you have a domain called:

    mysite.com

    you can create as many separate “websites” within that domain mysite.com, and it is still counted as 1 of the two domains that you are allowed.

    http:// hobby.mysite.com/ => your main domain
    http://mysite.com/personal/ => your own personal website
    http://mysite.com/family/ => your family website
    etc.
    as many really

    or if you have subdomains

    e.g., hobby
    http:// hobby.mysite.com/personal/ => a subdomain for your hobby
    http://fanclub.mysite.com/personal/ => a subdomain for a fan club, if you are into that
    anything else you want
    etc.
    as many subdomains really

    All the above is counted as one of your two licensed domains use

    and you can use any of the Joomlart templates that you like and downloaded.

    so, you can still use the other one for another domain name, for example your business

    http://mysitebusiness.com/ => your own business website
    and as above, you can use your any Joomlart templates also.

    Now, having stated the above, as Hung mentioned, they have upgraded all the templates to Joomla 1.5x (right now Joomla 1.5.3) and the latest Joomla 1.0.xx (right now Joomla 1.0.15). These upgrades are for security reasons mainly, but the Joomla 1.5x version is the Joomla of the future. If you do not upgrade to the latest Joomla 1.0.xx (right now Joomla 1.0.15) your site may be susceptible to malicious attack. The chances are very slim for small sites. But, if they happen, you may lose something that took you forever to create.

    At some point therefore, you might want to renew your membership, even if only for the shortest period of time, for example, the cheapest is $49 — to give you access to these updated versions. You may time this when there are a number of new Joomlart templates that you like.

    There is also a JA Teline II Magazine portal, you might want to look at that, it has no comparable template yet in any other templates company. The others are just your usual News templates — JA Teline II is much much more advance than the usual news templates. If you ever need something like a News-Magazine template, JA Teline II is something that other templates companies must beat. Well, it is advance but I have to be honest with you that it has some bugs still that need to be corrected — if this is something you need, wait until there is an announcement that they have made all the corrections that we fans of the JA Teline II are trying to correct — to be honest, I wish it had been less buggy.

    Technically, you can download all the Joomlart templates that are available when you renew your membership. 🙂 However, the limit still remains.

    I think when you renew your membership for the minimum amount of time, you get at least one (1) more domain added to those that you are allowed to use the templates for.

    I think you can actually take this out, you just can’t claim that you or anyone else was responsible for the design, development or making of the template.

    But with non-profit domains, you can not do that.

    Not the way I read this mfcphil

    MiCCAS was very emphatic about that in my clarification. If what you stated is correct, then so much the better. What you stated is the provision in another open source software I use.

    You can askieman, if you register the non-profit domain in question as part of your quota.

    True, just like people are not supposed to use copyrighted materials in publications. Frankly, more than likely at one time or another, we have had soiled hands, in relation to these issues.

    Just remember, there are certain things that could be very costly. I was working at a very prestigious institution at some point. Then, we got a new Director, and it was a very big coup because he was the former Director of one of the agencies of the National Institutes of Health. He did many seminal work during his career.

    He was a very good Director for our Institution. Then, the fan hit the ceiling. A graduate student who was reading one of his books found some sentences here and there, that turned out to have been in other scientific literature.

    The book was written before computers were common, so people used index cards to take notes. And, when you consider that scientific books could be 300-500 pages long, the Director explained that it was an honest mistake.

    To my knowledge, the so called plagiarized text was not even critical. But, nonetheless, they were.

    After just more than a year as head of our institution, he had to step down because of the scandal.

    N.B. Note that I suggested a legitimate way of removing the “Designed by Joomlart”

    Also, the copyright is fo your company or your site. So, if you want to remove the copyright, there is no need to ask permission, but not the the “Designed by Joomlart”.

    If this is a big thing for you, Gavick Pro allows unlimited use of any of their templates that you have access to — you just cannot sell them to others.
