Hello
I am getting some modifications done in the JA job board and I am really worried that which of these will stay even after ugrading the Job board
1. Addition of New fields in the registration form: I am adding a dropdown field where students can select their colleges. This will require the database to be change to accomdate the new field
2. Addition of filters for searching for students: Currently ‘Search resumes’ features only filtering on basis of ‘Locaiton’. I am getting the Stream and ‘Institute’ also in this form.
Similarly, I am making more changes in both the registration pages and search modules etc. I am really concerned that I might have to pay the developer again after I upgrade the version.
It would be great if you can tell me some way to keep the changes while upgrading. I have just bought the licence (3 months back) so I am eligible to get upgrades for next 9 months while I intend to do a whole lot of customization meanwhile.
I hope that there must be some ways to overcome this really serious issue. Hoping to hear from you guys soon.
P.S. When is the new version getting released (1.5 ?). Any idea?
Thanks

Nishant</blockquote>Hi Nishant,
I would like to clarify that we just support to fix bug, install component and investigate your requests to upgrade for the next versions.
All our feature requests as well as new changes implemented must be used/agreed by the majority of our customers.
At the moment, our custom work package is subject to pending for some time, thus we are afraid for not granting service as per your request. We would like to recommend you to post your project to http://www.joomlancers.com, another network of JoomlArt for further help.
When upgrading to new version, you should use our JAExtensionManager Component to compare all the new added files, change, delete or keep your customization on the current version. This should be done by a developer also.
Finally, our next JA Jobboard 1.4.6 version will be released soon and I will keep you updated on this.
If you need any other help, please let me know

Hi JA Developer
I think that you misunderstood my point. I am not asking you guys to do some customization. I have given this task to some other person already. What I am worried about is
1. If my developer make some changes in the registration forms (such as adding new fields etc.) and consequently changes the database (i.e. add new columns), will these changes be still present if and when I upgrade the version. The reason behind asking such a question is that, Once I get some customization done and pay the freelancer money, the work is done. However when I upgrade to the latest version, all the work is lost and also my money (spent on the developer). Please let me know if this assumption is right or not (I am hoping that its not)
2. How soon do you plan to release the latest version. If its within a day or 2 then I will ask the developer to postpone the work and do the customization on the latest version itself.
I hope this is more clear now and you will be put rest to my queries and doubts.
thanks

Nishant</blockquote>Hi Nishant,
Thank you so much for your detailed clarifications.
Please see my answers one by one as below
1. Question 1:
– If there is any change on your database, it will be kept the same after upgrading to the new version.
– If there is any change in some tables such as: Job, Employer, Resume, Profile, you should use “Customize Form Fields” function in Admin to change before using another ways.
– The code changes are confidential information after upgrading to the next version and you should hire a freelancer to upgrade your changes to the new version. It would be the best if you hire the one who has ever done this before and refer to our JAExtensionManager component via update.joomlart.com for further help.2. Our latest version 1.4.6 is under verification before officially releasing. This will be released very soon.
