hi, I used the thememagic to create a new theme, I save it, and when I go to retrieve it in the default template, it doesn’t apply any changes.

Are you making sure that you are assigning the theme to the site pages for which you want it to display?
(i.e. within the “Assignment” section within your Template Manager)
