January 14, 2009 at 1:27 am #137083Can anybody tell me what the deal with this who is online module is? Actually, nice, it tells my visitors there are a few people online but ain’t for real. Looking at the server logs, there is no visitor in that timeframe the mod showed me a few…
Now, I open my site at nighttime and the module shows 8 people online. The next moment, it shows 9 people online, the next moment 8 people online. I clear my browsers cache and cookies to see if there is some cache inconsistence with the module, suddenly there are 11 people shown online, now it’s 10, no, 9.
Has anyone this module in use and knows this as regular? I cannot have visitors right now as the site is not really marketed etc.. Googlebot visits sometimes but this I can see in the logs.
Any clues…? I have that with any site I put online, suddenly the module shows statistics that can’t be true… If JA Template or not…;)

January 14, 2009 at 2:58 pm #286411I find this often happens when Iām working on my site. Whenever I hit refresh to see the changes Iāve made, the numbers change. More than likely it is counting each and every time you are on your home page, at least that seems to be what is happening on my site.
Also, if you have your āSession Settingā minutes really high (Located under Global Configuration ā Then System) it will take the shown amount of minutes before a visitorās session ends. If it is set at 45 minutes and a person only stays for five, it will show them still in the area for the entire 45 minutes, even though they are long gone. I keep mine set at 10 minutes to avoid inaccurate numbers. When Iām working on my site I change that number to 60 to avoid being logged out of the Admin panel.

January 14, 2009 at 3:32 pm #286416Seems it is time to change the who is online module… I think I will disable it, there will be some alternatives to the default Joomla one.
BTW, nice flower, the myths about this plant say, that it brings sweet dreams and ehances the love. Other myths say, that one shall not sleep below the buds of those, or one may never wake up, will be taken away into the afterworld by the gods of the plant. Those are the “myths” from shamans and medicine men and women all over the world. Really others say, it is deadly poisonous plant that contain the chemical scopolamin…Worth to mention the third myth is actually from chemistry and not really a myth. Be cautious…;) From my view, it is very beautieful flower.:-* Should be a datura…

Good luck with the hit counter.
