October 13, 2009 at 7:23 am #145140Hi
Can you help…I want to increase the spacing between the title words that are used on Slideshow2 and on User 1, 2 & 3.
The words are too close together and cannot be read properly, they look like no spaces have been used at all.
Hope someone can help.
Kind Regards
Nigel

October 13, 2009 at 6:58 pm #320413Found it.
The H3 headlines are controled by a Custom Font styling (Cufon).
In order to change it, you simply need to turn off the Cufon and then use whatever font styling you prefer. The Cufon “enable – yes/no” is in the Template parameters.
Once turned off, you can style the H3 via your CSS as you normally would.Perhaps someone can shed light on how to customize custom Cufon fonts.
John.

October 15, 2009 at 9:01 am #320559Thanks John,
I just changed it and it doesn’t look as good, but it is easier to read. Once again you’ve come up with the answer.
Many thanks.
Nigel
October 17, 2009 at 2:25 pm #320791I had the same problem and just used ‘Â ‘ between the words. This is not really a brilliant solution, but it helped.

October 21, 2009 at 7:42 pm #321202I don’t want to stop cufon or to insert ” ” in all my titles.
Did someone find another solution ?

October 28, 2009 at 7:31 pm #321946No, I’m using the  “solution as well.
I’m looking forward for someone to post a real solution to this issue.
Best.

October 30, 2009 at 2:17 pm #322121The ja-halite template comes standard with version 1.03 of cufon-yui.js
Word spacing is supported only from version 1.04
So download the latest version of cufon-yui.js (http://cufon.shoqolate.com/generate/) and copy that to ja_hilite/libs/cufon/js
In your ‘template.css’ modify for instance your H3-tag by adding ‘word-spacing:10px;’
Works perfectly !4 users say Thank You to filser for this useful post

That works, sort of. The problem is that same word spacing gets applied EVERYWHERE you use h3, not just in the slideshow, which means that your module titles etc. are spaced too far apart as their font size is not increased as in the slideshow.Great find, but still not an acceptable solution as far as I’m concerned. I would love to see this marked as an open issue because I don’t believe this adequately resolves the problem.

That’s the great thing about CSS – change the h3 properties…and all h3 are changed.
So if you want something different, then you need to create a new class for what you are wanting to see.
December 3, 2009 at 7:25 pm #325662Understood. But we’re talking about resolving an issue with this custom template. Asking end users to customize it more as a work-around doesn’t seem like a reasonable solution, despite it being effective. Just my two-cents, though.

Agreed. I don’t know why this isn’t more of a problem. I just went through the same thing http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/heading-text-is-too-compact/ (my search missed this thread!) and came to the same solution, but i agree that this is a fundamental problem (of the template) with an otherwise nice add-on (Cufon). As sold, it is not really acceptable (not that i’m angry – Halite is a wonderful template!).
