    I’m trying to increase the size of the ‘wide’ template setting. – Dispite what the template Vars.php says I believe the width of the ‘wide’ template is 920px and I would like to change this to 1000px.

    Please can someone list what changes need to be made to achieve this?

    Regards,
    Shane.

    Yes you can change the size, but i must say i wont recommend doing so.

    The wide template is made so users with a screen resulition of 1024*768 can view the site without any problems. Of all internet users around the world 1024*768 is most common.

    So if you make it wider than the wide template is then users with that resolution wont be able to see your site correctly. Wich is a very big group.

    If you still want to change do that in your template.css file around line 792

    clear:both;
    margin:0 auto;
    width:920px;

    I agree with bennitos

    1024*768 is the most common size and the site will layout correctly for most people.

    one of the worse things you can do in site design is create a site where a visitor needs to use scroll bars to see the site.

    I guess I wont be the only one, but if I have to scroll right to see the website I click the X in the top corner and go else where

    Absolutely. It is very anoying and bothersome if you ever have to scroll horizontally to see everything. Is there a way to chagen the width, so that is fills the screen, rather than a fixed size, such as % rather than pixels?
