Hello,
This is my fourth attempts at receiving assistance from the forums.
While I am trying to be patient, I cannot image any other service where one pays for a product and then receives absolutely no support. The support materials (ie. the installation ‘guide’) are oblique and completely insufficient for someone like me.
I would really appreciate some help.
I am having serious problems installing. I have downloaded the template and all components to my desktop. I have then downloaded an FTP client and uploaded them into my CPanel.
However, when I log into my CPanel, the whole thing takes a very long time to load, and then I receive an error message about an unresponsive script:
http://www.thepublicpress.com.au:2082/cPanel_magic_revision_1286347745/yui/data/data.js.35
On one computer (IE) the whole system then crashed. On another with Firefox, I was able to stop the script.
My problem then is I have absolutely no idea where to find this quickstart. The instructions say to type your URL in the quickstart – what is this and where do I find it? I can’t see anything in my CPanel called ‘quickstart’. And even then I’d have no idea what to do.
I think a lot of assumptions are being made with the instructions given, that I am not privy to as I have never used Joomla or Joomlart before.
Please help me!Thank you.

December 18, 2010 at 1:50 am #367425May be I might be able to help you. First unzip the file that you download, and you will see the folder ‘quickstart’, then open that folder and move the content of that folder via ftp to your public_html folder, then once you access your url, it will load the installation package/process

December 18, 2010 at 1:53 am #367426Hey Public Press,
I’m just a user and a newbie, but while you’re waiting for a response… If you upload Joomla to CPanel via Fantastico, and set your username and password, it does all the work for you. Quick and easy. Then go to http://www.yoursitename.com/administrator and log in with the username and password you set. You can then start working with your template. If you’re uploading a new template, do it in this area, not on CPanel. Use the install/uninstall feature under the Extensions tab at the top of the admin menu. You can download the template on this site to your desktop, unpack it, extract zips within zips and repack it, then upload to admin from your desktop on the admin site. When uploading these templates do make sure your zip file doesn’t contain any other zip files or you’ll get the XML error. I hope this helps. I’ve had a lot of trial and error and have gotten some good assistance from this site, also some trouble with support tickets. I find the boards are better responders. Good luck with your site! 🙂sjisaacs Friendsjisaacs

December 18, 2010 at 1:53 am #367427You can just upload the quickstart file within the template zip instead of uploading the entire file.
December 18, 2010 at 7:56 am #367442Thank you for your responses.
Akwasi – This is what I have been trying to do, but when I upload all these files to my Cpanel, they cause an unresponsive script in my Cpanel.
SJIsaacs – If I just install the template, I don’t have any of the configurations installed. I am completely daunted by the prospect of having to build it from scratch to look like it does.
With regards to your second comment, I don’t understand – I can’t see any file called ‘quickstart’ in the template file. On the downloads page, next to the big 45meg file it’s described as ‘quickstart’….is that entire zip the quickstart?
I’m sorry, I still need more help!

On the downloads page, next to the big 45meg file it’s described as ‘quickstart’….is that entire zip the quickstart?</blockquote>No, the entire zip file contains Template, Extensions installation packages and source psd files
http://www.joomlart.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=1848
Main quickstart file is located in unzipped folder in this path folder which is to be downloaded and installed::
ja_teline_iv/quickstartQuickstart installation tutorial ::
http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/how-to-install-joomla-quickstart-package/For unresponsive script error, I would suggest to ask your hosting provider if they are updated to latest version of cpanel.
Mainly, As the zip file is uploaded through file manager, You can then extract the zip file ::
http://www.ehow.com/how_7403514_extract-multiple-zip-files-cpanel.htmland then, type in the url path which would bring you to normal joomla installtion procedure as outlined in tutorial guide
Hope this helps
Cheers

</blockquote>It seems you need to go back to basics and learn how to use an ftp program etc. I will try and walk you through it.
First download Filezilla Client – http://filezilla-project.org/
Once you have done that you will need to supply it with 3 details, your ftp address, your ftp usernam and your ftp password. If you do not know these then you will need to speak to your host as they are the only ones who can give yuo these if you cannot find them in your control panel. Do not let them fob you off and suggest you use the web based one in the control panel. Web based ftp apps are not the best, use Filezilla.
Once connected with Filezilla you will see a number of windows and one of them will be a directory of your webspace. Browse in that to the folder where you wish Joomla to be installed.
Please then unzip the file you downloaded from JA. Inside the zip you will see a number of folders and one of those is called “Quickstart”. Inside it is another zip file. Unzip those drag all the contents “Administrator, Components, Templates and all the other files and folders etc” into the folder on Filezilla where you want your Joomla install to be.
When you have managed all that come back and I can talk you through the rest of the process. Before you do the rest of the process make sure you have all your MySql database connection details to hand. Again, if you do not know these please ask your host as they will be hte only ones who can help here.
Alternatively JA do provide an installation service where they will for a small fee install the quickstart for you.
