I have installed xampp and Joomla 1.7.3 and it’s working fine.

Now i wanna install the JA Purity II template but when i go to the Extenstion Manager and select the “jatc_purity_ii.zip” and click upload & install, nothing happens.

The second try i extract the zip file and put this in my joomla /tmp directory and than click install. It said that the install was succesful but when i go to templates it doesn’t show up.

How can i fix this ?

As it is a fresh install I’d load the quickstart package as it loads not only joomla but the T3 framework and Purity II.

    Thanks.
So i only need to install this quickstart file ? It doesn’t work if i copy the purity II template in the template folder of my Joomla 1.7.3 and do a fresh install. I ask this because i wanna have a Dutch Joomla installation.
    Is that possible ?

Just a Dutch install or multi language?

the install that comes in the quickstart is always English and contains everything you need. You can then add language packs as you wish.

with regard to installing Joomla you need to install Joomla first then add any templates or extensions after. With respect to Purity I would add the T3 framework first before the template and any other extensions.

Let me know exactly what you want to do and I’ll try and help.

I have made a webshop with Joomla 1.7.3 (dutch) and the Purity II template and it’s online. Now i wanna create the same environment on my computer at home (Joomla 1.7.3 Dutch and the Purity II template with using xampp). So i can develop on my pc.

I can install the quickstart and add the dutch language pack. The site is at this moment not multi language (maybe later), but only in dutch.
Yes i know i have to install Joomla first but that was my problem. When i first install Joomla, i can’t get the template Purity II installed. It won’t show up. Maybe because i didn’t install the T3 framework first ?

UPDATE: it’s working now. My fault. I now installed joomla 1.7.3 dutch and than just the templates. What i did was trying to install the quickstarts. But now its ok. Thanks for your time.

    Hi jdkock,

Are you wanting to further develop the webshop but do it locally first? If so, then the absolute easiest way is to install Akeeba on the site, do a back up and then use the backup and kickstart.php to give you a clone of the site locally. And it is always sense to do backups on live sites anyway! So if you are not doing them, you should start! 😀

Normally you would get a warning telling you to install the T3 framework. Did you do a “Discover” in extension manager and see if it will add there? It could be permissions (for example on macs you have to do some work with permissions before Joomla will work properly). That is why so many people use the quickstart.

Without seeing the admin etc of the local machine I wouldn’t really know what happened.

Yes i want to further develop the webshop locally first. I don’t have installed Akeeba on that site so i’m going to look for that first.
The installation of the T3 framework and Purity II was now ok. It works. The only thing i have to do is copy the webshop locally.

Glad to hear not only that it is working but also that you will now start backing up your live web-shop. For your safety I’d recommend regular backups on the shop.

    Good Luck!
