I installed joomla 1.53 via fantastico and then installed the quick start files via ftp.

it does not work my site does not look anything like the demo.
Please advise how i can get my site looking like the demo

No need to do the fantastico install if you place the quickstart with ftp after.

Upload the quickstart files with ftp and just run the installation and you should be finished.

Right now you are doing a complete install with fantastico and then upload a install over it again, wich is giving you the problems
