April 21, 2007 at 7:31 am #119813I try to install JA Uthia II at a new Joomla! website. I get this error: ERROR: Could not find an XML setup file in the package.
I don’t know why. All necessary folders seem to be writable and safe mode is turned of….
When I try to install from the templates install folder I get this error:
Failed to create directory “/var/www/vhosts/mysite.com/httpdocs/templates/ja_utahia_ii/css”

April 22, 2007 at 7:11 am #218618Try uploading the template folder into the templates folder on the server via FTP. If it uploads it should show up in your list of templates.

April 22, 2007 at 9:18 am #218624Have you doubledchecked that there aren’t any zip files within the template file? I haven’t tried this myself but. You should be able to upload templates easily but perhaps there are more than one file in this release? If you unzip first on your HDD and chech, you can see for yourself. Hope it helps.
You can always do what Bill suggests here as well. However, if you have more than one file in the folder, you will see it before you upload to FTp anyway, so…instantinlaw Friendinstantinlaw

April 23, 2007 at 2:45 am #218657Good suggestion Erik:)
I have installed that template myself + I just checked and there are no extra zips inside, but there is an XML file. I suppose that the zip file might have been corrupted during the download or unzip.
rhand, you might also want to try re-downloading the template zip too before uploading. When it comes to templates, Joomla gives you the option to upload the template files via the back end, but it is not the only way to do it. There is always the good old fashond way of doing it, ftp.
Let us know how it goes.

April 23, 2007 at 5:53 am #218677That was a drastic move though. Keep in mind that its the little things that usualy go wrong, you know like a coroded spark plug, not the starter. You won’t be able to do that so easy when you have the whole site moded, and remember to keep backups of your database and site files.
Anyway, glad we could help.:) -
