July 30, 2008 at 10:49 pm #263118the quickstart is a full joomla installation with the template as the default template and all the mods and components needed for the template are already included and the parameters pre-configured.
if you know how to install joomla, you install the quickstart the exact same way except for when you do the database section you want to check, install sample data.

Sorry for cutting in this thread.
I normally use Fantastico to install Joomla. But it creates http://domain.com which creates a conflict with the SSL certificate.
If I chose to go by the Quickstart routine, will I be able to install as http://www.domain.com ?

Hi Victor,
Hung provided a separate thread on the QuickStart kit, you may want to look for it. If you follow his precautions, it should work up to Joomla 1.5.4. Basically, the just do as you have been doing the Joomla 1.0x-Teline II installation, it just involves more steps, and you have to be more careful.
There is an issue that could be a problem with Joomla 1.5.5 update. However, hanks to Helen from another thread here:
Upgraded to Joomla 1.5.5 now Ja News 3.1 Problemthe problem associated with Joomla 1.5.5 update has been found a “work around”. I was installing more last night and found some more refinement on the bug.
Anyway, I start with the most recent Teline II QuickStart KIt which unfortunately is still Joomla 1.5.3-Teline II v1.4. Hainn included many fixes there.
I have a rough drough of the procedure I use — very very long. If you can ask Chris to translate it to French, with the images, just like the previous tutorials, then it may help. Otherwise, you will not understand it, because it is more complex than the tutorial we did in previous ones.
Send me an email when you can arrange this with Chris. I will give you a link.
Cornelio
N.B.
I won’t be posting my detailed procedures here anymore. The Moderators do not like my tutorials anyway. And new users do not bother to search, so I end up doing the work for people, by searching my own posts in the Forum, and repeating myself over and over. From now on, I will collate all my own suggestions in one site. And just provide a link to those who are interested.

Hi deafjoomla,
When I was new with databases, I thought Fastastico was fantastic, but I learned later on that it is not always the case. First, sometimes their version of the software is not the most up-to-date.
In regard your question, during the QuickStart installation, there is a portion where you specify the URL of your site. Also, after the installation, whether you use Fantastico or not, you can change the URL as you want:
via the configuration.php. Change the setting of the “live site” there to what you want.

That’s the problem. I have no problem doing it in J 1.0 but it’s a different code in j 1.5.
This is the new line in J 1.5:
<blockquote>var $live_site = ”;</blockquote>
When I edit this, my website breaks.
I’ve checked joomla.org and either there’s no answer, or I didn’t enter the right search terms.
Thanks for the input.

Can you provide what you actually placed there? Plus, please provide the full URL of your index.php

yes.
if you have control panel,
create a new database
then just upload the quick start using file manager.
the click on expandI then create an empty file called configuration.php and set permissions to 777 ( some people don’t do this, I find it best). You can do this using file manager also.
then go to your domain and it should bring you to the installation page
follow the prompts
when you get to the database section, click install sample data.
when you get to the end it will tell you to delete the installation directory, you can do it through file manager
then your site will be live.
if it did not make the url
http://www.domain.com
go to file manager and edit your configuration file for the “live site value” to http://www.domain.comvictortopper Friendvictortopper

August 1, 2008 at 11:05 am #263408Hello/Bonjour Victor
Could you clarify please as I’m confused! Do you want the Quickstart for Teline II, but for use with Joomla 1.5.x, or do you want the Joomla installation instructions?
Pourriez vous vous expliquer s’il vous plaît comme je suis troublé! Voulez-vous le Quickstart pour Teline II, mais pour l’utilisation avec Joomla 1.5.x, ou voulez-vous les instructions d’installation Joomla ?
Thanks, Merci
