    Hi,

This is my first time on the forum and I’m a very new convert to Joomla, so be gentle with me!

My question is I’m trying to upload the ja_transmenu_v20 zip file to my server via the administrator. However when I locate the Installers/Modules page and attempt to upload the file, I’m being told that the relevant directories are all unwriteable.

I’ve successfully uploaded the unzipped files via ftp but they are still not showing in the site or administrator module lists. I used this method to upload templates and it worked but I’m really stuck on this one.

By the way, the permissions set at server level are all OK.

Also if I try and amend the file permissions via the site/Global Configuration page this also calls up an error.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried the upload from directory option?

Yep, I’ve tried that one and it just comes up with the following error message:

    Installation file not found:
    /home/admin/mylocalsite.co.uk/administrator/components/com_installer/module

Even though the zip file was also successfully placed in the folder location via FTP and the CHMOD set to 777.

Should I be getting in contact with the server host provider to clearly establish the file permissions for joomla?

If you cannot change the global permissions it means your configuration.php file is set to read only ftp to it and set permissions manually then try to write the global changes back etc if it fails contact isp

also the installer for a component does not look in the administrator folder for the module, I assume you have ftp’d the module to that position and tried to install it?

the components go in public_html/components folder, modules in modules folder , mambots in mambots folder etc

    Thanks for your comments.

I’ve set the config.php file to 775 and uploaded via FTP but still no joy on the global permissions. I had also loaded the unzipped files to both module sub-directories (within main components/module and administrator/components/module) but I still see nothing within the administrator panel.

I’m waiting for a reply from my hosting provider to see if that’s where the problem lies.
