I have followed the quickstart 3.3 guide and have gotten up to the point where you configure the database. I don’t know what to use for the username or hostname. I use inmotion hosting and that is where the database is stored. Help would be appreciated. I am pretty new to joomla and publishing and maintaining a website, so very detailed responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

that information should have been given to you when you ordered hosting, where you get login, password, ftp information, and database information, check your mail and it will be provided there, with user name and password for database, as well as name, if you have rights only to one database

if you have rights to database to create different instances then you need to get on database through some of your hosting tools where youwould create new database, assign username and password to it and that is information you get inputed into joomla. Host is usually localhost so that is easy.

thank you I was able to get that installed, I didn’t need to get the info from the hosting site. I just wasn’t entering my database name correctly, thank you all!
