Hi All….first off I have to mention what an incredible place this is. The resources available for the relatively low cost are impressive. That said, I’m attempting to build a website to serve as a central “meeting place” (in the virtual world) for an annual trip some friends and I make. To make a long story short, I first messed around with the JA Rave template on cloudaccess with varying degrees of success but some interesting lessons learned.
Unable to replicate the smooth look and feel, I turned to the JA Rave quickstart. To make an even longer story short I essentially followed the instructions here in attempting to to install the QS as per the various posts here that I’d come across.
Everything went smoothly (in the hostgator control panel I show a successful FTP/upload of the folder and files within the public_html folder) up to the point where I entered in my web address expecting to be greeted by the prompt to install, but am instead greeted by the HostGator “Getting Started” frontpage. Any attempts to play with iterations as suggested in other posts (i.e., http://www.mysite.com/index.php or http://www.mysite.com/installation.index.php) fail as well.
I feel like I’ve covered my bases on the research front – hitting the hyperlinked article as well as the Quick Start Installation Guide and all the links thrown out in that thread.
Any ideas as to why I seem to be hitting a dead end?

Update: apparently there was a “default.php” file in the public_html folder (existing before my QS upload) that was – for lack of a better word – blocking the install package from firing when i went to http://www.mysite.com. Once I deleted that and cleared my cache everything worked textbook perfect.
