August 26, 2011 at 7:33 pm #167856I want to have a menu item type External URL that opens a custom .php page that accepts the Joomla template’s login credentials. The purpose of this would be to have a custom .php page that resides in the root folder, but is not made from the template. Upon open, the check.php page checks login status.
Essentially, I want to have a simple custom .php page that cannot be opened by a random user; only by a user who is logged in can open the page.
I hope this makes sense. Any solution that gets to that end will be helpful.
Thanks!
Rob

August 26, 2011 at 8:41 pm #408807Thats the beauty of the new way joomla is doing things, with platform Independence. This is definitely possible now and will be even more so in the future. I would recommend you get in with the platform group @ Joomla and look at the awesome work they are doing there.
Good luck with your endeavor.realtoast Friendrealtoast

August 26, 2011 at 9:04 pm #408816Thank you so much!
Would you kindly send a link pointing to where I should look within joomla.org? I took a poke around and am not sure where you are pointing me.
Thanks!

it’s could simply do by include joomla frameword into your external script.
in this script, after included jframeword, you can use JUser object for checking logged status than process.
lets me know if you still need a real sample code. ill make one for you.
thank you

August 28, 2011 at 9:59 pm #409251subscribe to the “framework” (“Joomla! Framework Development” <joomla-dev-framework@googlegroups.com>) & / or Dev ( joomla-dev-general@googlegroups.com ) group @ google and you’ll be on your way.
