Can be not a good blog but it can bridge with WordPress (Joomla.org is bloging this way)

I would recommend rather taking a look at http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,3374/Itemid,35/ as openwp and j-prosolution seem to be discontinued

Wordpress is a much better blogging tool than Joomla.

there is a bridge for wordpress to joomla
    it’s called mojo blog

the only issue I have with wordpress is that it is really designed for a single user and is chock full of links back to the WP community.

For community sites I’ve been using MyBlog with much success. There are no links or ads for the provider and everyone in my community can have their own blog. It even has the appropriate modules and plug ins and is SEO compatible with artio.

There are different opinions on what makes for a good blogging system. Some people require pingbacks / permalinks, others want categories, some just want sequential posts categorized by author.

My take: try playing with the default Joomla first and discover what weaknesses it has for your particular requirement. Joomla is a pretty flexible platform, so if the default Joomla installation doesn’t meet your needs, there are a bunch of enhancements (and outright replacements) that may fill the gap.

Here are some areas to review (not complete, not my companies, just a first take)

    1) myblog (http://www.azrul.com/products/my_blog.html) is a nice product. Support is great, active and responsive forums, product is evolving. Their commenting system (http://www.azrul.com/products/joomla_comment_system.html) has lots of positive, um, comments in many forums. Potential downside – both cost money (not a downside for me, but others may feel differently)

    2) If you like wordpress, take a look at mojoblog (http://www.joomlify.com/) which does an excellent job of incorporating wordpress into joomla. its a work in progress, but there are lots of helpful people, and what kevin & co have done with mojoblog is great.

    Good luck!

I’ve been using MyBlog for several months now and I think it is horrible. But it’s about the only option for me as there are compatibility issues w/ Mojo Blog. I hate MyBlog and don’t recommend anyone use it. It has few features, is not flexible at all, and is just all around a poor component. Too bad I don’t have another choice!
