September 4, 2008 at 2:19 pm #132961i have picture’s within an article— actually for pdf’s…. when i click on the link within the editor i pull up the filepath to the file… forms/abc.pdf ( FORMS folder is in hiearchy of the joomla directory )
when i view the page no link is active… i have even tried to add the full URL to the file’s and html code itself and it doesn’t work— shortens the url path if that make’s any sense… do i need to move the FORMS folder within the images directory ? ? ?
here is the url to the actual page: http://www.crossinstrumentation.com/CrossI/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=4&Itemid=150
thanks

September 5, 2008 at 4:12 am #268852Hi
seem you are wrong when add html
you must add like this
<a target="_blank" href="/CrossI/Forms/LC%20AL%20FL%200307.pdf"><img src="/CrossI/images/resized/images/cross/pix/al and fl_185_239.png" /></a>

September 5, 2008 at 4:30 am #268856hey it doesnt work for some reason… i am in one of the article’s… and i click on the pix—look at the link…the url is listed…. Forms/LC%20GA%200608.pdf for the link…
i have even taken a look at the html tab in the editor and this is what it say’s:
<p style=”font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold; color: #000000″ align=”center”><a href=”Forms/LC%20GA%200608.pdf” target=”_blank”><img src=”images/cross/pix/ga.png” border=”0″ alt=”ga” width=”185″ height=”239″ /></a></p>
kinda stumped as to why this isn’t working… never had this happen before…could this be a bug in the template…

Just a thought. What happens if you just stick the pdf at ‘top level’ rather than your forms subdirectory?
Cheers

September 5, 2008 at 2:24 pm #268943i ended up doing this which leads me to believe we have a bug… just rebuilt the page itself in dreamweaver and then cut and pasted the html code…
here is the code from the joomla editor itself… i went ahead and placed the 3 files inside a simple table and then added the hyperlinks and now it is working…
<p style=”font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold; color: #000000″ align=”center”><a href=”Forms/georgia.pdf” target=”_blank”><img src=”images/cross/pix/ga.png” border=”0″ alt=”ga” width=”185″ height=”239″ /></a></p>and here is the code i just brought over from dreamweaver
<table border=”0″ cellspacing=”2″ cellpadding=”2″ width=”560″ align=”center”> <tbody><tr> <td><div class=”style14″ align=”center”><span style=”font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold” class=”style11″>Georgia</span></div></td> <td><div class=”style14″ align=”center”><span style=”font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold” class=”style11″>Alabama & Florida</span></div></td> <td><div class=”style14″ align=”center”><span style=”font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold” class=”style11″>North & South Carolina</span></div></td> </tr> <tr> <td><a href=”Forms/LC%20GA%200608.pdf” target=”_blank”><img src=”images/cross/pix/ga.png” border=”0″ width=”185″ height=”239″ /></a></td> <td><a href=”Forms/LC%20AL%20FL%200608.pdf” target=”_blank”><img src=”images/cross/pix/al%20and%20fl.png” border=”0″ width=”185″ height=”239″ /></a></td> <td><a href=”Forms/LC%20NC%20SC%200608.pdf” target=”_blank”><img src=”images/cross/pix/nc%20and%20sc.png” border=”0″ width=”185″ height=”239″ /></a></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan=”3″ bgcolor=”#fbb814″><div class=”style16″ align=”center”>Click on an individual card to view a ” PDF ” or right click to download.</div></td> </tr> </tbody></table>forgot to mention i initially had the pages set up to a category blog with a 3 column layout pulling in the 3 article’s… dont know why i did it like this…. is this the cause of the issue???
the other article’s that arent working are in a totally different section of the site; but, are also set on a category blog layout…
your thought’s???here is the url: http://www.crossinstrumentation.com/CrossI/
go to the far right and choose one of ” our products “….

September 15, 2008 at 8:18 pm #270686file:///C|/Users/Treys Laptop/Desktop means you are telling your website to find the image which is in your computer and not on the server
your latest code shows it is correct. if there seem to be problems with the display of your site, that means there are wrong HTML codes. dreamweaver just guides you but wont do the exact thing you like to do unless you have HTML background

September 15, 2008 at 9:04 pm #270694a perfect example of what the problem is with editors, they try to do all of the work for you and generally get it wrong. I know that when an image or link doesn’t work it was the editor referencing it from my hard drive. Frontpage does this all of the time and then I have to go back and fix it.
