There is almost no useful documentation on JA Tabs. There are two or three different settings of tabs in the demo, presumably CSS and module _prefix differences. These should be described.

    http://www.joomlart.com/forums/showthread.php?p=172618#post172618

The link to the How To Use JA Tabs also prohibits me from seeing it, as well as my friend who has Developer membership. Can that be fixed, or is there another source for more detailed information on JA Tabs?

My best idea now is to try to Firebug the demo, and figure out what CSS classes are available.

It looks like the interesting CSS classes for the tabs that display K2 items are two-col and three-col, but I am not sure where those go.

    Thanks!

I think we all agree the same. So much so that the guides are being worked on. I do not know how far they are into it but I know it will happen.

I’m simply ready to pull my hair out. It takes a rocket scientist with their templates and it doesn’t help that the documentation is poorly written and leaves out essential information. I’ve spent hours searching for the ‘how-to’s.” :((

    Hi Phill,
I’m trying to set up the tabs, which I’ve done but for the life of me cannot get the little icons to work like what’s in the demo. I’ve tried every version… setting it up as a module, an article, etc… I just want the cute little icons ( to show up! ) :((

Where do the codes such as _icon1 actually go? I tried putting it in the “Module Class Suffix” area but it doesn’t work. And for that matter if I have five tabs, how would that area show five different images? So I know that’s not right…

Can we write some sort of code in the “Enter Content code” area to make the icons show? While trying to figure out JA Tabs I just left the sample codes in that area:

This is tab content 1 This is tab content 2 This is tab content 3 This is tab content 4

I’m working on a demo site at the moment so excuse the mess while I try to figure out this template. Site URL

You are on the right track with _icon1 to _icon5 . You simply put then in the tabs content modules.

So you have a ja_tabs module then for the content of each of the tabs you have a module published in the tabs position. Each of those tabs positions contain the content for your tabs. If you apply the _icon1 to each of those modules you have your little icons. For this to work select your tab types to be “Modules” in your JA Tabs module.

If you still struggle to set this up PM me an admin logon and I’ll put some sample data in for you to play with.

That’s one of the issues I’m having. In the instructions it says to place the modules in the ‘tab’ position but I don’t have a tab position to select from. I’m sure I’m just tired and missing something. I was finally able to get the icons to work but only if I set it up as a module. I couldn’t get them to work any other way.

That appears to be an oversight in the positions list. If you look at templates>ja_portfolio>templateDetails.xml you will see a list of positions as per the code below

    <positions>
    <position>slideshow</position>
    <position>content-mass-top</position>
    <position>hornav</position>
    <position>breadcrumbs</position>
    <position>search</position>
    <position>banner</position>
    <position>left</position>
    <position>right</position>
    <position>top</position>
    <position>user1</position>
    <position>user2</position>
    <position>user3</position>
    <position>user4</position>
    <position>user5</position>
    <position>user6</position>
    <position>user7</position>
    <position>user8</position>
    <position>user9</position>
    <position>user10</position>
    <position>user11</position>
    <position>footer</position>
    <position>syndicate</position>
    <position>debug</position>
    </positions>

Now you could simply add your position to that list but quite frankly that is just soo much effort. In the picture on the right you show above, where it says “User4” at the top, simply click on that box and type tab or whatever position name you wish. That will then be added to the dropdown forever more. You can then create your modules in positon “tab”. If you wanted another tab module with different content on another page then you can add another module position to that list such as “tab1” and then in the tabs module point to this new postiton (if you get my drift).

I wish it would let me type in that box but it won’t. I switched over from Chrome to Firefox and was able to type the word ‘tab’ in the position box but it wouldn’t save it as such.

Thanks for your PM. I have added the tab position and setup some test modules with various _icson suffixes. Hope that is what you are after.

Take a look at what I have changed in the ja tabs module then look at the tab contents by looking at the modules in the tab position.

It’s exactly what I’m after! Thank you, thank you! Now to go see how you did it. I’ll have to duplicate this area if I get the bid so I better learn!

….Nice selection of photos by the way.

    Thanks again Phill!
