I have tried to up load the zip file I get the following error

XML setup file is not for a “template”. >:(

What have I done wrong can get the site working in localhost but not on my server.

So sorry if this is a basic ? but never used Joomla before so a steep learning curve for me.

Any help in plain English would be appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

Also do I need to sql query my database to my site on the internet?

Cheers folks for your patience 🙂

Well I have solved this problem myself.

Now I am wondering what I have paid for as there seems to be no support in here more a self help group. Seems to me we have been ripped off

Your problem occur because you haven’t extracted JA Avian package that you’ve downloaded.
Please read UserGuide before posting a question. Thank you.

I had unpacked the files and uploaded them using WS-FTP Professional program the problem was solved by my friend that codes in PHP. I will ask him to explain when he next visits my house.

Your reply is one reason that I will not be recommending this site to any of my other friends adn suggest that they take their money else where. As I have had my money taken from my account I am stuck here.

A little tact, politeness and diplomacy might enhance your personality. I have the guide printed out next to my keyboard and also a Joomla 1.5 book. So for you to assune that I have not read the guide I find astounding. Once I have removed any reference to Joomla from my site I shall advertise that others try somewhere else before coming here.

Next time you attempt to answer someones question I suggest you do not jump to conclusions as to what has and has not taken place to install the site.

I shall now go ahead and ignore your comments and add you to the rude list

I’ve read rude comments before and don’t think this one was as bad as you feel. I’m sure you are just frustrated, AS AM I with some of the issues here with this template. Remember we are dealing with people that do not use english as their first language and you would be suprised at how many people do not RTFM (read the manual) before posting here. So to assume someone didnt is understandable.

Now I am not a glowing happy customer here either. I have been severaly critical of JA and the support. I have beat these guys down my fair share. The company response is slow, and the manual and responses to help are sometimes a little hard to understand at first glance. I have had a lot of help from Nguoiabcd so make friends with this person. 🙂 Feel free to search for my posts where I have been looking for answers.

I have spent WAY TOO MUCH TIME working to get this template and gallery to work for me the way I planned for it to work. I have had to do edits and lil hacks here and there and turn some features off that do not WORK in order to get my site live (somewhat).

I think its gotten better since I started but it has been furstrating to deal with with. I join a template club to get a working template, maybe a few edits here and there, and then be done, I have gone way back in my time for this project already. Hopefully when Im done and its working all will be good.

I only hope that with further UPDATES to gallery/joomla that GOOD DOCUMENTATION and TESTED PROCEDURES are in place to help us upgrade in the future. Because WIPING out a site and starting with a quickinstall is not an option for many of us once we get a site going.

Thanks for your efforts – hopefully it all pays off.
