October 1, 2014 at 3:33 am #201741Hello,
I am really struggling with the JA-BIZ template. Or, perhaps more accurately, with updated T3 Framework. The desired site would be rather simple; not with the many modules you see in the demo. To illustrate my difficulty, visit the site: g7impact.org (demo/demo).
To see what I would like to see, overall, on the top menu, select Participants > Governing Body. Because the menu button allows me to set the view as “Default Template”, the article displays clearly in the main body with white background.
Now go back to Home. Click any of the three buttons in the middle, Learn More, for instance. You see? No article is shown. I’m not even sure where that button is supposed to lead. I would like to be able to set that button and others so that I get the remainder of the Read More article viewed in the same view as the Governing Body example, above.
Would you please unveil the secrets?
Thanks.
Rob

October 1, 2014 at 4:30 am #551287Thanks for taking a look. I actually did use the Quickstart installation. Aside from replacement pictures you see, and some modification of the articles, all of that content was provided.
So, my question is, how does one assign a particular page template from a button or hyperlink created menu? Doing this is easy from an actual menu item. But it’s not clear how to select a style template outside of a menu.
Thanks.

October 1, 2014 at 5:02 am #551290By, “Default Template” I am referring to the options at the bottom of Details when creating or editing a Menu Item. JA-Biz offers 11 unique page template styles that one can assign to a menu item. Or, I can select another page template from one of the other site templates (i.e. Beez, etc.). Setting that option to Default Template (first option) provides the look I want. But, I am unable to get that look when linking from a hyperlink or from a button.

October 1, 2014 at 5:45 am #551296Hi there,
I think i got you ( please fix me if i wrong ).
You want to get this menu item link and use that into another place. You have copied URL from Link field ( in your photo ) and used that ?
In basic, you’ll need provide &Itemid=xxx with xxx is your Menu item ID . Template style will need that to know which menu for which template.Thank you

October 1, 2014 at 11:13 am #551352No. My objective is to have the ability to apply any specified page design that I might want (Page Template Style) from any referring link that I create within the site. My example above shows how this can be done from a menu item. I want to be able to do the same think from, say, a link within a Custom HTML module.
As an example, if I create a Custom HTML module, and within that module I create a link called “Schedule” that is to open an article with a soccer team’s game schedule. I want that article to appear with all the characteristics of the “Governing Body” article that you saw from the Participants menu.
That’s what I want. But what I get is the above example link opens a blank, grey space. The article doesn’t even appear.

I think i have understood your issue. As i explained above, your link should be included with Itemid which one used to determine template style.
If needed, i can help your via teamviewer. We can schedule time on skype to work on your issue.
