    Hi all
Has anyone tried to u/g the latest 1.65 template (quickstart) install to 1.7?
Today I downloaded the latest 1.65 updated QS package and installed successfully on my server.I tested the install and the site worked great.
I then used the built in update feature to upgrade the site to Joomla 1.7 this I was told by the updater was again successful. I then cleaned the T3 cache and purged all unused cache to be sure everything was fine. When I try to view the site I get this following error related to the T3 plugin. BTW the T# plugin is published and active after the u/g.

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate abstract class JDatabaseQuery in /home/xxxxxxxx/public_html/ttp/plugins/system/jat3/jat3/core/joomla/modulehelper.php on line 292

(xxxxx being a mask for my server id and ttp being the site folder name)

Can someone from support explain the error, given I have definitely followed a standard procedure, and would assume JA has not only tested their J1.65 quickstart, but also themselves performed the necessary u/g to Joomla 1.7 to test if all’s well, given that most users will use 1.65 as the auto path to 1.7 till JA gets 1.7 templates out?

That link does not work for me.

    tfosnom,

The update to J1.7 was quite a big one from the point of view of Joomla.org. This has left not only JA but all template and extensions developers a lot of work to do updating. JA are working very hard in testing and updating everything but with such a huge catalogue this is going to take some time. All of the template clubs are facing the same and this will continue now Joomla.ogr have introduced their new upgrade schedule.

To help users who are keen to update asap JA have release a beta version of the JAT3 plugin. In most cases this should be fully functional but there may be a few instances where this will not work. Details of the updated plugin can be found here – http://www.joomlart.com/blog/jat3-framework/ja-t3-framework-hotfix-for-joomla-17-upgrades?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+joomlart%2Fblog+%28JoomlArt+Blog+-+Make+Websites+Usable+and+Great+Looking%29

    Hello Phil
Thanks for your very quick response and to JA for a quick fix. I have applied the beta plugin and confirm it corrects the problem.
Phil, I hear what you’re saying, but, I was under the (maybe mistaken)impression all major template clubs were given a better understanding and heads up, RC release of J 1.7 and input/feedback to joomla.org devs etc. Guess what I’m saying is I’d have thought you (clubs) would be better prepared for the release and perhaps have a head start on us mortals:)

The informational/development process and transition for JA from 1.6 to 1.7 would make a great blog post, hint hint?
But I appreciate all you have done to resolve what you can as it becomes apparent.
    Good work! JA

PS Phil/Mods I can’t seem to change header from problem to solved can a mod do that please

    I’ve changed it to solved.

As for development I have seen it so many times in the past (I am on the dev team over at Coppermine Gallery and have experience with forum software too) where developers have tried using the RC releases only to find that the final release needs loads more work. It is quite common and would have been the case here too. Between the RC and the final release of J1.7 there were some changes that would have affected the work already done. While JA do keep a very close eye on the development of Joomla it is only when the final release is out that testing can go full steam ahead. It is that testing that takes time as I am sure you can appreciate. There is not just the basic running of the plugin to test but JA need to carefully check every part of the functionality so they can reduce bugs as much as possible. In my mind waiting a couple of weeks is a small price to pay.
