I am experiencing a problem with updating the JA components that request updating in the Control Panel as Joomla is updaitng to 2.5.8. It is happening on all my sites and I do not know how to resolve this problem. Even if I select each component individually it gives me errors. I have included a snapshot of the kind of feedback I am getting. Please can someone assist.

Thanks for contacting to us but you could not upgrade new version JA Extension from Extension Manager of JOOMLA default. Please try to use JA Extension Manager component and upgrade to the new version from JA Extension.

Why are you forcing us to use your custom extension manager? All we want to do is update things and keep the site safe, not have to learn and use yet another proprietary application. Joomla’s updater is working just fine for everything else and it fetches updates automatically. With your updater we have to manually download everything !!!!! nad drop them into the repository???

How did you come up with this? Let’s see how we can make the life of our clients even more frustrating and for heaven’s sake let’s not use an easy and working solution from Joomla.

C’mon guys…..we pay you to help us…not piss us of.

I totally agree with your sentiments – the extensions manager is time consuming especially when you have a lot of sites that require updating.

I am having the same problem and being desperate tried using the JA update component (which I agree is an unnecessary function/burden) but regardless… that didn’t work either and I got the same error message. I checked with my hosting provider and they had a look at it and said there’s something wrong with the vendor’s file and seems as if Joomla doesn’t recognize the archive type? 🙁

Thanks for sharing. However, JA Extension is only supported for active JA Membership.

If you are a JA Membership, and this isn’t working out for you. You need to check those below cases before proceed to upgrade

+ You have not entered an account on JAEM yet Or your account does not have permission to upgrade a products (Eg: you signed up an account for JAEC club, and try to upgrade products on JATC club).
+ You have not provided account for “JoomlArt Updater Service” (Click on edit link of JoomlArt Updater Service on JAEM, you will see the form to enter your account into)
+If you have already provided your account as above. Please confirm the product that you want to upgrade does belong to the club that you have signed up for.

I finally got it to work but our point still stands.

Why would you take something as simple and functional as Joomla’s new update engine and FORCE your clients to use your far more complex extension manager when all we want is a one click update solution? Who in their right mind enjoys complicating their life? We have businesses to run and do not need to read documentation just to update a simple extension!

    Why can’t you understand this????

I strongly recommend you give users the option to opt out and use Joomla’s update engine and that you make your template included extensions available for it. I am quite honestly telling my clients to look at other template developers instead of JoomlArt. This is a MAJOR usability hindrance and clients use Joomla because it is easy not because they have to jump through hoops to get a simple update.

And here is a real wakeup call. To keep the updates flowing I imagine a continual membership is required. So we are now slaves of Joomlart for the life of the site and template we use. With RocketTheme, their updates come directly via the Joomla updater, no username and password required, meaning even after your membership with them expires you are still going to be able to update your templates and extensions, which were duly paid for at the beginning of the websites life.

Hell, Even Microsoft doesn’t charge you for updates once you’ve purchased a license!!!

You guys need to seriously rethink how you treat your clients.

    Yours,
    Incredibly Disgruntled Member
