November 16, 2009 at 4:18 pm #146082Hi,
I am using JA content slide and I have a huge performance problem. I have around 40 articles in a category, I have the contentslider module pointing to that category, and all works good except the load speed. It takes around 20 SECONDS to create the thumbnails of the articles and show them on the slider. I guess it is because its loading ALL the images of the 40 articles.
Is there any way to make JA Content Slider to first load a number of articles (lets say 5) and then load the others progressively so it does not freeze the webpage while its loading?
Thanks

November 17, 2009 at 9:56 pm #324025It is running on my own computer, localhost. I can try to setup a ftp access for you if needed but I guess more people had experienced this problem. Any ideas?
Thanks

November 23, 2009 at 7:08 pm #324707Hi,
Two things that I need to fix:
1) The logo in the main header is a transparent PNG and it slows the page a lot when first load. If I change it for a jpg, it does load quick but I need it to be transparent. Any way to fix this?
2) Go to menu COCINAS and then SUBMENU COCINAS. There are like 20+ articles inside the content slider with its images. It takes an excessive time to load, I guess is because the thumbnails, need to solve this.
Same happens in another category that is full of articles. Menu BAÑOS and then SUBMENU MUEBLES BAÑO.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

November 25, 2009 at 11:06 am #324944Hi golden_eye
I would like to answer your questions as follows:
1) The logo in the main header is a transparent PNG and it slows the page a lot when first load. If I change it for a jpg, it does load quick but I need it to be transparent. Any way to fix this?
=> I have checked your website and saw that this login is loading normal.
2) Go to menu COCINAS and then SUBMENU COCINAS. There are like 20+ articles inside the content slider with its images. It takes an excessive time to load, I guess is because the thumbnails, need to solve this.
=> There are a lot of articles in this module. We have supported max items for this module. You should change it to 10 items.

November 26, 2009 at 4:55 pm #325071Hi,
well there is only 19 articles. I have been reading the docs of the components and I don’t find the 10 articles limit you said 😕 Is there any way to implement a preload of the first 3 articles and then thread the others in the background? That will improve the performance very much and will resolve the limit in the number of articles shown. Any ideas?
Thanks for replying!

December 1, 2009 at 3:10 am #325320Hi golden_eye
I am afraid that you are using an old version. Please download the latest version and install it again.
When you edit this module, you will see that it is like my attachment file.

I installed the new version and I still have the performance problem. Any idea about how to implement a preload of the first 3 articles? I will try to code t myself, but I need some hints.
Thanks in advance

July 5, 2011 at 7:45 am #399902Hi Tan!
Currently, We don’t have any idea in increasing performance for this extension. We have released the best one in this time, maybe in the future we have a better one. You could continue asking for other users in this forum:
http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/ja-content-slide-very-slow-at-loading-thumbnails/
to increase your performance or POST this as a small job to http://www.joomlancers.com/ – A system of professional and experience developers who could help you in this.
Thank you.
