I was installing Ja Cooper Quickstart to test it, but i have access ONLY at the backend control panel after this. The frontend shows an empty page. I’m using Firefox and Safari for Mac, latest versions. Even uninstalling all the extensions and cleaning the cache the problem is still there.

February 14, 2009 at 11:28 am #291348Empty page, sounds like “have you deleted or renamed the folder called -installation- after the installation process as you have to delete or rename it after the installation to let the site work.”
Or do you have a blank index.html in the root”?
Those are the typical reasons otherwise there may be some PHP conflict or your server access permissions are set wrong…
You will figure it out soon, I am quite sure…;)

You need to ‘Insert Sample Data‘ in step 6 (or 7) of the installation process.
Drop your database and rename your installation folder back to installation or re-upload it and start again.
Ohh and you’ll need to clear you config file too.
If your new too Joomla I’d just delete everything, inc. your database, and start again.

When not doing this step, the site simply shows the template only, without demo content…but not a blank page. Know from experience, as this step sometimes hangs with JA QSs…;)

February 14, 2009 at 12:00 pm #291354wooohanetworks, scotty thanks for your quick reply. I’m not new to Joomla!, I’ve set up hundreds of Joomla! sites and sometimes use QS packages from different producers. It means that of course I deleted the installation folder etc., as usual. No index.html.
Normally I don’t have any kind of problem with Joomla! installations.
Anyway, a normal user would have problems with this QS beta version, so I will wait for the stable one.wooohanetworks Friendwooohanetworks

February 14, 2009 at 12:08 pm #291356Hmm that is odd.
I’ve just downloaded and installed and it seems OK although there was a duplicate language file warning during install.
Yes I know what your saying Woo but 9/10 times on here when someone says blank/empty page after installation it’s because they skipped sample data button.

February 14, 2009 at 12:15 pm #291358Installing another template on the SAME QS installation works fine with all JA contents – see:
http://www.joomladesigns.eu/cathleen.
Re-installing Cooper template brings to the same problem.
No idea what the problem is…scotty Friendscotty

February 14, 2009 at 12:35 pm #291365Did you delete the other default templates? I can’t seem to access them….
http://www.joomladesigns.eu/cathleen/?template=beez
http://www.joomladesigns.eu/cathleen/?template=ja_purityThe problem looks like it’s related to your index.php but no idea why it would work for me and not you. The download is being constantly updated so maybe redownload and try again?

February 14, 2009 at 12:58 pm #291369Yes, I deleted them, leaving only:
http://www.joomladesigns.eu/cathleen/?template=JA_Cooper
http://www.joomladesigns.eu/cathleen/?template=rhuk_milkywaybehind the actual one. I’ve reinstalled the latest version 5 minutes ago.

February 14, 2009 at 1:21 pm #291374Solved! In the template manager, I had to choose “Disable” in the menu module. Now it’s working, only messed up with modules, of course.
