Before I wipe out everything I have already done to do a quickstart install of this theme, can anyone possibly answer a couple of questions about this slideshow.

1. Playing with the demo, I have noticed there doesn’t appear to be a way to tell which photo you are looking at. Numbers don’t highlight no arrow, nothing. At first I thought one of the photos had an arrow above the 4 but if it is, it is not working right. I believe that is just part of the photo because it appears over the 4 no matter what position the photo is in… different position on different themes but “arrow” always over the 4.

2. How many slides can go in this slideshow? Are we limited to the 4 or can it be as many as we need? Currently I am using the JA News on Teline II and I have already run into the problem there if I add more than 5 stories, it doesn’t work right. I don’t want to put news there, just want to make sure more can be used. My current HTML site has a Flash slideshow menu very similar to this slideshow and I have 7 positions filled. Would like to keep those 7 positions.

3. If the slideshow cannot be made to show more than 4, can a flash slideshow menu be placed in that position without too much problem?

4. Has anyone experienced any problems with the read more link that have been happening in other templates such as Sanidine? Can it link anywhere?

5. Can the photo also be linked or just the read more?

6. Can thumbnails be used instead of numbers? If so, does it work?

Thanks for any help you can give on this. I have no way to play with this template unless I install it and I don’t want to install over what I already have. I want to do a quickstart install to make sure it is all installed right, but I will lose the articles I have already put in. I don’t mind doing that… just want to make sure it will do what I am hoping before I trash my Teline II attempt at building a site.

imsleepy – You must be reading my mind. I have the same exact questions. I did add multiple image files and the navigation number does increase, so that’s a good sign. You do have to adjust the thumbnail number to the number of images you are displaying.

I still can’t seem to figure out why the slide number is not highlighted when an image is active. This seems like a bug to me. I think a hover style can be used, but I’m not sure how to implement that change right now. I also need to change the Next button to a Pause button. I have some ideas on this one. This change is critical for my application. Let me know if you have any ideas.

I was looking at the php files for the slideshow last night. There are a few problems and I think it is the way the files are named. I have a feeling there were some late nights involved with getting this released. I don’t have the files open in front of me right now, but there are files with names like ja_thumbs_wrapper, ja_slide_thumb, ja_slide_thumbs_handle…. you see the pattern. Some are thumbs and some are just thumb. I found a few instances where either an s was omitted or added where it didn’t belong. If a div id for instance is ja_slide_thumb but in another file you have ja_slide_thumbs, this could potentially cause a few quirks. I did notice that where I found some of these is also in areas that I believe could be meant to be some sort of hover or highlight.

I was too tired and about cross-eyed last night to continue. Afraid I would make a mistake and really mess things up. So, decided I would wait a day or so and give it another go.

I don’t know if this is even a problem yet, just a theory on my part. Seems like it would be easy to drop in an s here and there or leave one out…. such similar names… they should have went with one or the other… not both I think.

I will let you know if I come up with anything. I am not holding my breath on this though… just playing with it right now to see if anything develops.

Oh almost forgot… question 6 on my list, if you don’t already know, thumbnails work quite well… and question 4, so far so good, links are working. Haven’t explored the rest of my own questions yet LOL… just took the plunge without knowing and put up the template.
