October 28, 2011 at 10:07 pm #170167The Ja Events Template for Joomla 1.7 (14.39 MB) released on 08-29-2011 DOES NOT WORK!!! I’m getting so frustrated with the products and services that Joomlart distributes. Better half of the quickstart packages I’ve downloaded then installed do not work properly. I usually have to install the Joomla Core then install the template, components, modules, and plugins separately to make sure the templates function as Joomlart says they will work. Most of the tutorials are missing some aspect of the customization options available; especially the topography instructions. Plus the response time to any problem posted, be it in the forum or the ticket system, is unacceptably slow.
If I have to go through and install as many files and folders and modify as much CSS as I am required to, these templates should be free! I can say with certainty that when my membership with Joomlart expires, I will not be renewing as a member.
The problem I’m experiencing takes place during installation with the Extension Manager. After selecting the JA Events templalte package, I select upload and encounter the following message:
Unable to write entry
I guess I have to go through and manually update files again then place them in the appropriate directories to get this template to function as expected. I’d like to complement Joomlart, because this is exactly what I did NOT pay for!

Perhaps you might consider a different approach –> QUICKSTART INSTALLATION – A STEP BY STEP GUIDE<em>@ntonline 279550 wrote:</em><blockquote>I guess I have to go through and manually update files again then place them in the appropriate directories to get this template to function as expected. Are you so very certain that the issues you have been experiencing are solely due/related to the JA Templates and not, perhaps, to elements outside of the template parameters – such as your own server configurations/permissions and/or the method(s) by which you have elected to try to install/configure the templates?I ask because I have performed many installations for Members – including JA Events – and not once have I experienced the issues you are describing above . . . which leads me to a theory that, perhaps, the issues do not lay with the templates at all.

I attempted the quickstart option and had absolutely no luck.

I did consider other elements outside of the template parameter. I verified the server settings, PHP, MySQL, and every other requirement and meet all of them. I verified the server disk space and have plenty of space. It’s the template! Just like many other templates. I just installed JA Events on Joomla 1.5 and found that the CSS for IE8 hasn’t even been optimized yet. That’s why I began looking into J17 option thinking maybe JoomlArt has put more emphasis on the latest release. But it certainly doesn’t look that way!

October 28, 2011 at 11:21 pm #422257Tom,
I just installed the template manually and encountered the following error when previewing the front end:
Warning: require_once(/home/rcevents/public_html/beta/templates/system/html/modules.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/rcevents/public_html/beta/plugins/system/jat3/jat3/core/joomla/modulehelper.php on line 198
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/rcevents/public_html/beta/templates/system/html/modules.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/rcevents/public_html/beta/plugins/system/jat3/jat3/core/joomla/modulehelper.php on line 198
What do you suppose is wrong with this block of code in the modulehelper.php file:
// Load the module chrome functions
if (!$chrome) {
$chrome = array();
}require_once JPATH_THEMES.’/system/html/modules.php’;
$chromePath = JPATH_THEMES.’/’.$app->getTemplate().’/html/modules.php’;if (!isset($chrome[$chromePath])) {
if (file_exists($chromePath)) {
require_once $chromePath;
}$chrome[$chromePath] = true;
}
These are the types of issues I keep encountering with the JoomlArt templates. It would be nice if everyone paid for templates that worked properly. But from the posts that I keep reading, it doesn’t look like quality is a concern of JoomlArt and neither is the customer service. I’m still waiting for a response on #TKT-868-10299. When I sent a customer service request asking about the ticket, I was sent the following response more than 24 hours later:
<blockquote>Your forum post IE Bug with JA Events has been alerted to our development team via JIRA Bug Tracking System. Below are details of this bugproject: JATCEVENTS (http://pm.joomlart.com/browse/JATCEVENTS) priority: 3 issueType: 1 You can keep track of the status of this bug via “project url”

October 29, 2011 at 12:45 am #422262There’s nothing wrong with the template quickstart.
The issues your experiencing are soley of your or your servers creation..I recommend watching the following video tutorial I made while you and Tom have been exchanging ideas.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz_-IqF4Syc
Doesn’t get much easier then that.
